Protect against -Induced Oxidative Damage in Bovine Endometrial Cells.

Metabolic diseases, such as ketosis, are closely associated with decreased reproductive performance (such as delayed estrus and decreased pregnancy rate) in dairy cows. The change of () concentration in dairy cattle is an important mechanism leading to ketosis, and its blood concentration in ketotic cows is always significantly higher than in nonketotic cows. Many studies indicated that can induce oxidative damage in liver and other organs. () have gained substantial attention in the last decade as strong antioxidative substances. This study aimed to demonstrate a protective effect of against -induced oxidative stress damage in bovine endometrial (BEND) cells by activating the () signaling pathway. Our research show that could significantly increase activities of () and (), () content, and (), while significantly decreasing () content in BEND cells. Both mRNA and protein expression levels of were significantly increased in BEND cells, and (), heme (), (), and () were also significantly increased. These results indicate that can antagonize -induced oxidative damage by activating the signaling pathway to exert an antioxidant effect.

Background: We investigated chitosan's protective effects against tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ)-induced toxicity in adult male rats, focusing on cognitive functions and oxidative stress in the brain, liver, and kidneys.

Methods: Rats were divided into four groups (n = 8/group): (1) Control, (2) Chitosan only, (3) TBHQ only, and (4) Chitosan + TBHQ.
