Background: This study evaluated the prognostic role of Fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT ( F-FDG PET/CT) parameters quantitatively measured in patients with recurrent oral cavity cancer.

Methods: Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were used to assess the associations between quantitative F-FDG PET/CT parameters and other clinicopathological factors and progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).

Results: All of the F-FDG PET parameters (SUV , SUV , SUV , metabolic tumor volume [MTV], and total lesion glycolysis [TLG]) were significantly associated with poor PFS and OS outcomes after salvage treatment (P < .01). In multivariate analyses, Karnofsky performance score, recurrence site, MTV, and TLG were independent variables predictive of both PFS and OS (P < .05). High MTV (>8.8 mL) or TLG (>29.4 g) values at recurrent lesions were associated with >5-fold increased risk for tumor progression and mortality after salvage surgery.

Conclusions: The PET parameters of MTV and TLG measured at recurrent lesions may predict tumor progression and survival after salvage treatment.

Condensed Abstract: This study examined the role of F-FDG PET/CT at recurrent staging for predicting tumor progression and survival in 71 consecutive patients with recurrent oral cavity squamous cell carcinomas. Of F-FDG parameters, metabolic tumor volume and total lesion glycolysis were independent factors predictive of tumor progression and survival after salvage treatment.

Rare dual MYH9-ROS1 fusion variants in a patient with lung adenocarcinoma: A case report.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2025

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Zhongshan City People's Hospital, Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China.

Rationale: ROS proto-oncogene 1 (ROS1) fusion is a rare but important driver mutation in non-small cell lung cancer, which usually shows significant sensitivity to small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors. With the widespread application of next-generation sequencing (NGS), more fusions and co-mutations of ROS1 have been discovered. Non-muscle myosin heavy chain 9 (MYH9) is a rare fusion partner of ROS1 gene as reported.

Background: In patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following sorafenib failure, regorafenib has been used as an initial second-line drug. It is unclear the real efficacy and safety of sorafenib-regorafenib sequential therapy compared to placebo or other treatment (cabozantinib or nivolumab or placebo) in advanced HCC.

Methods: Four electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Ovid) were systematically searched for eligible articles from their inception to July, 2024.

Imaging characteristics and treatment of recurrent germinoma.

J Neurosurg

January 2025

1Department of Neurosurgery, Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, Hiroshima University, Hiroshima; and.

Objective: An MRI protocol for germinoma surveillance after complete remission has not been established. Moreover, the standard treatment for recurrent or refractory germinoma has not been determined. In this study, the authors explored the imaging characteristics of recurrent germinoma and discuss their institution's experience with multidisciplinary treatment of this malignancy.

Purpose: Adaptive radiotherapy accounts for interfractional anatomic changes. We hypothesize that changes in the gross tumor volumes identified during daily scans could be analyzed using delta-radiomics to predict disease progression events. We evaluated whether an auxiliary data set could improve prediction performance.

Background: Recently, microRNAs (miRNAs) have been applied as biomarkers for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients. Early diagnosis and management of DLBCL can improve patient survival and prognosis.

Aims: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic accuracy of miRNA biomarkers in DLBCL patients.
