The VO film with "movable" antireflective (AR) coating was initially designed and successfully prepared to deal with the challenges that VO faced. The "movable" AR layer, including water and other organic solvents, not only endowed VO with active-passive regulation mode but also dramatically enhanced the thermochromic performance. Furthermore, we combined solid and movable antireflection layer for further structural optimization, and the result turned out to be superior to any multilayer structure reported previously. We believe that this revolutionary concept of AR coating will open up a new avenue for low-cost smart window applications.

School of Fashion and Textiles, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Heating electronic textiles (e-textiles) are widely used for thermal comfort and energy conservation, but prolonged heating raises concerns about heat-related illnesses, especially in the elderly. Despite advancements, achieving universal user satisfaction remains difficult due to diverse thermal needs. This paper introduces an intelligent thermochromic heating e-textile with an artificial intelligence (AI)-based temperature control system for optimized personal comfort and color indicators for elderly caregivers.

High-performance color-changing compounds, recognized as prominent smart materials, dynamically alter their color in response to external environmental stimuli. However, existing compounds exhibit limited responsiveness and color diversity, presenting challenges in the development of textiles responsive to multiple stimuli. This research introduces a novel design for dual-responsive color-changing microcapsules, employing a Pickering emulsion template method.

Radiative cooling in smart windows using VO - a dynamic thermal management material, is of potential interest for enhancing energy savings in buildings due to its both solar and emittance tuneability in response to changing temperatures. However, studies related to the effects of VO thin film microstructure in a multilayer system on emissivity regulation are currently lacking. The present study addresses the thermochromic and emissivity performance of VO/ZnSe/ITO/Glass Fabry-Perot (F-P) cavity thin film system, by manipulating the porosity in VO thin film.

Incorporation of BN units into π-conjugated organic compounds, as substitutes for specific CC couples, often leads to new hybrid materials with modified physical and chemical properties. Poly(p-phenylene iminoborane)s are derived from well-known poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) by replacement of the vinylene groups by B=N linking units. Herein, an unprecedented poly(p-phenylene iminoborane) is presented that features a strictly alternating sequence of BN units along the main chain.
