Robot-assisted medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction in the treatment of recurrent patellar dislocation can improve tunnel accuracy but yields similar outcome compared with traditional technique.

Arthroscopy

January 2025

Department of Orthopaedics, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, China; Orthopaedics Clinical Medical Research Center of Gansu Province, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, China; Intelligent Orthopaedic Industry Technology Center of Gansu Province, Lanzhou University Second Hospital, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, China. Electronic address:

Purpose: To review patients with recurrent patellar dislocation surgically treated with robot-assisted medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction compared with patients who underwent surgery using the traditional freehand technique.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed to identify patients who underwent MPFL reconstruction from January 2020 to December 2023 in our hospital. The inclusion criteria were: patients aged from 15 to 50 years; patellar dislocation occurred two or more times; a Merchant view or computed tomography (CT) scan indicating patellofemoral joint malalignment, external patellar inclination, or lateral patellar dislocation; underwent MPFL reconstruction via robot-assisted or traditional freehand technique; complete medical records and imaging data before and after surgery; a minimum of 1 year of postoperative follow-up.

In this study, a focus on the populations of bryophytes living in aquatic and humid habitats of Sicily is presented. This investigation aims to evaluate the consistency and diversity of this group of taxa. The complete list of taxa known to date in these habitats is provided, with reference to hornworts, liverworts, and mosses, and the patterns related to the biological, ecological, and chorological features of this bryophyte flora are also illustrated.

: Left ventricular aneurysm (LVA) causes geometric changes, including reduced systolic function and a more spherical shape, which is quantified by the sphericity index (SI), the ratio of the short to long axis in the apical four-chamber view. This study aimed to assess SI's value in A-LVA and B-LVA, identify influencing factors, and evaluate its clinical relevance. : This clinical study included 54 patients with post-infarction LVA and used echocardiography to determine LVA locations (A-LVA near the apex and B-LVA in the basal segments), with SI and other echocardiographic measures assessed in both systole and diastole for the entire cohort and stratified by A-LVA and B-LVA groups.

Impact of Cell Layout on Bandwidth of Multi-Frequency Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer Array.

Micromachines (Basel)

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Precision Measurements Technology and Instrument, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China.

Piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (PMUTs) show considerable promise for application in ultrasound imaging, but the limited bandwidth of the traditional PMUTs largely affects the imaging quality. This paper focuses on how to arrange cells with different frequencies to maximize the bandwidth and proposes a multi-frequency PMUT (MF-PMUT) linear array. Seven cells with gradually changing frequencies are arranged in a monotonic trend to form a unit, and 32 units are distributed across four lines, forming one element.

Parental Evaluation of a Responsive Parenting Program for Infants with Hearing Loss.

Children (Basel)

January 2025

Department of Phoniatrics and Pediatric Audiology, University Hospital Muenster, University of Muenster, 48149 Muenster, Germany.

Background: Parental satisfaction is an important factor in the evaluation of early intervention programs but is rarely investigated. The Muenster Parental Program (MPP) is a short, evidence-based early intervention program that focuses on parental responsiveness. It is a family-centered intervention for parents of infants aged 3-18 months who have recently been diagnosed with hearing loss and fitted with hearing devices, including prior to or following cochlear implant surgery.
