A series of derivatives of the potent dual soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH)/5-lipoxygenase-activating protein (FLAP) inhibitor diflapolin was designed, synthesized, and characterized by H NMR, C NMR, and elemental analysis. These novel compounds were biologically evaluated for their inhibitory activity against sEH and FLAP. Molecular modeling tools were applied to analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) on both targets. Results show that even small modifications on the lead compound diflapolin markedly influence the inhibitory potential, especially on FLAP, suggesting very narrow SAR.

Cry proteins, commonly found in gram-positive soil bacteria, are used worldwide as aerial sprays or in transgenic plants for controlling crop pest populations and as insect vectors. Via PCR analysis, a spore producing soil isolate (BV5) was speculated to encode a Cry gene. Partial nucleotide sequence of the amplified PCR fragment showed homology with the Cry8 genes present in GenBank.

Proteins and polyphenols exhibit distinct biological activities and functional properties. A comprehensive investigation into the formation mechanisms, structures, and functional properties of protein-polyphenol complexes will deepen our understanding of their interactions and establish a theoretical foundation and technical support for development of novel functional foods and pharmaceutical products. The almond protein-phloretin (AP-PHL) covalent complex was synthesized through the covalent binding of hydroxyl radicals to phloretin (PHL), utilizing almond protein (AP) as the raw material.

Bagaza virus (BAGV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus and has caused significant avian death in many regions, and also garnered recognition as a significant human pathogen causing diseases like encephalitis. The genome of BAGV encodes ten proteins including three structural proteins and seven nonstructural proteins. The C-terminus of the BAGV NS3 helicase serves as a helicase during BAGV replication, aiding in ATP hydrolysis and unwinding of double-stranded RNA.

As a serine hydrolase synthesized by the liver, butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) is an important biomarker in the clinical diagnosis of liver diseases. To track BChE activity in drug-induced liver injury, we designed a deep-red BChE-activatable fluorescent probe (CYL-BChE) with hemi-cyanine structure by using a cyclopropyl carbonyl group as a specific recognition moiety. Its near-infrared absorption wavelength (665 nm) and emission wavelength (762 nm) provide excellent tissue penetration capabilities, making it suitable for biological imaging.
