New Quantitative Structure-Property Relationships (QSPR) are presented to predict the flash point of binary liquid mixtures, based on more than 600 experimental flash points for 60 binary mixtures. Two models are proposed based on a GA-MLR approach that uses a genetic algorithm (GA) variable selection in multilinear regressions (MLR). In these models, mixtures were characterized by a series of mixture descriptors calculated from various mixture formula combining the molecular descriptors of the single compounds constituting the mixtures and their respective molar fractions in the mixture. The best model demonstrated good predictive capabilities with a mean absolute error of only 7.3 °C estimated for an external validation set. Moreover, this model is focused on mixture descriptors applicable to more complex mixtures, i. e. constituted of more than 2 components, and already demonstrated interesting predictions for a series of ternary mixtures.

Binary ionic melts formed by a protic ionic liquid (PIL) 1,2,4-triazolium methanesulfonate ([TAZ][MS]) dissolved in methanesulfonic acid are studied as non-stoichiometric electrolytes. The composition-driven structure-property relationship of methanesulfonic acid is explored at varying molar fraction ratios from 0/100 to 10/90, 20/80, and 30/70 by the addition of 1,2,4-triazolium methanesulfonate [TAZ][MS] IL. To unveil molecular characteristics of these mixtures of [TAZ][MS] PIL and CHSOH, we performed classical molecular dynamics simulations at varying temperatures from 293 to 303, 363, and 423 K.

Due to their low cost, high stability, minimal leakage risks, and a wide variety of modification opportunities, hydrogel electrolytes are considered the most promising solution compared to liquid or solid electrolytes. Here, we synthesized a dual-function hydrogel electrolyte based on polyacrylamide and poly(ethylene dioxythiophene):polystyrene (PPP).

Pressure Swing Distillation (PSD) is the only advanced technology that does not require the addition of third components to the system to enhance the separation of azeotropic mixtures. It outperforms homogeneous distillation for separating pressure-sensitive azeotropic mixtures. In this study, we aimed to separate methanol and toluene using the Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) and Aspen Plus thermodynamic calculation models to simulate a binary homogeneous azeotropic system.

The recycling of critical metals from spent lithium-ion batteries represents a significant step towards meeting the enhancing resource requirements in the new energy industry. Nevertheless, achieving effective leaching of metals from the stable metal-oxygen (MO6) structure of spent ternary cathodes and separation of metal products simultaneously still remained a huge challenge towards industrial applications. Herein, a competitive coordination strategy was proposed to design a novel deep eutectic solvent (DESs), which improved both leaching and selective metal recycling capacity even at high solid-liquid ratio (1:10).

Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a major microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus and causes vision impairment and blindness. The presence of major risk factors for DR, such as high levels of HbA1c, does not predict all DR pathogenesis in the clinic, which suggests that uncovering the underlying mechanisms and identifying novel markers are needed. Previous evidence has shown that the serum metabolic signature of DR is unique and detectable compared with that of diabetes mellitus (DM).
