Published: January 2019

Introduction: This study aimed to identify the prevalence of urodynamic changes with an associated risk of developing upper urinary tract damage in neuroschistosomiasis patients.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted, wherein68 patients were admitted for analysis of urodynamics, urea and creatinine levels, and uroculture.

Results: Blood test results did not indicate kidney failure. There were cases of asymptomatic bacteriuria. Common symptoms were frequent nocturia and detrusor overactivity. Results of low compliance and low cystometric capacity were both statistically significant (p = 0.001 and p = 0.002, respectively).

Conclusions: A high prevalence of negative urodynamic changes were found in neuroschistosomiasis patients.

Background: Although consent has long been accepted as necessary in maternity care, the concept of informed consent for planned vaginal birth has polarised maternity politics. The publication of the NSW Consent Manual outlines new standards of informed consent, signalling the need for examination of current maternity consent practices.

Aims: To examine informed consent and disclosure of material risks in birth in a prospective qualitative study of midwives and obstetricians.

A 55-year-old female attended the Outpatient Urology Department for local anaesthetic flexible cystoscopy and intradetrusor botulinum toxin A injection. Having been diagnosed with urodynamics-proven low-grade detrusor overactivity in 2017, she was well-established on six-monthly Botox® injections. As part of her ongoing treatment, 100 units of Allergan Botox diluted with saline in a 10 mL syringe were injected via 20 punctures.

Introduction: With increased access to gender affirming care, the rate of vaginoplasties in the US has risen rapidly. Although some retrospective studies report high rates of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) after gender affirming vaginoplasty, the type and severity of symptoms has not been well-described. The purpose of this study was to prospectively characterize postoperative changes in lower urinary tract function after robotic peritoneal flap vaginoplasty as measured by the American Urological Association Symptom Index questionnaire (AUASI), Urogenital Distress Inventory 6 (UDI6), and additional measures.

Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus, Denmark; Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark. Electronic address:

Background: Children with enuresis are often requested to complete voiding diaries in the diagnostic process. There is no consensus on the optimal number of days of registration in the voiding diary that would allow correct patient characterization.

Objectives: To examine the intra-individual variation in the parameters yielded from voiding diaries and evaluate if one week of registration is sufficient when evaluating the nocturnal urine production (NUP) and maximum voided volume (MVV) in children with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (MNE).
