Three kinds of amphiphilic polypeptides, X-poly(sarcosine)--(-Leu-Aib) (X = adenine, thymine, glycolic acid), were synthesized and self-assembled in a tris buffer to take on nanotube morphology. The nanotubes were joined together to extend the nanotube length with the addition of trifluoroethanol and heat treatment at 50 °C for 24 h. The length extension rate decreased in the order of adenine > glycolic acid > thymine depending on the -terminal chromophores. Adenine-adenine interactions between the nanotubes were found to be more prevalent upon joining the nanotubes than adenine-thymine interactions. Further, adenines on the nanotube surface could chelate with Cu(ii) to thermodynamically stabilize the nanotube membrane. AFM imaging in liquid environment revealed that the membrane elasticity of the adenine nanotube was as high as ca. 1 MPa, which is considered to be strengthened as a result of the adenine-adenine interactions.

The demand for lightweight heat dissipation design in highly miniaturized and portable electronic devices with high thermal density is becoming increasingly urgent. Herein, highly thermal conductive carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reinforced aluminum foam composites were prepared by catalyst chemical bath and subsequent in-situ growth approach. The dense CNTs show the intertwined structure features and construct high-speed channels near the surface of the skeletons for efficient thermal conduction, promoting the transport efficiency of heat flow.

This review paper presents the current progress in the development of resistance welding techniques for thermoplastic composites, with a particular emphasis on their application in hybrid joints, such as those involving thermosetting composites and metals. Resistance welding, a fusion bonding method, offers significant advantages over adhesive bonding and mechanical joining by eliminating the need for additional adhesive materials and enabling integration into automated manufacturing processes. The study highlights the unique benefits of resistance welding, including lower energy consumption compared to other methods and its compatibility with automated manufacturing, which can reduce production costs by up to 40%.

Generally, rolling circle amplification (RCA) is based on an enzyme-linked padlock extension reaction. Herein, rapid linking that utilizes click chemistry for joining sticky ends of DNA molecules was developed. The ends of nucleic acid were modified with 2-cyano-6-aminobenzothiazole (CBT) and cystine (Cys-Cys), while glutathione was introduced to break the disulfide bond under target navigation and promote the linkage between CBT and Cys at the terminus of the nucleic acid at pH 7.

The widely used adhesive joining technique suffers from the drawback of being unable to be dismantled to examine for degradation. To counteract this weakness, several structural health monitoring (SHM) methods have been proposed to reveal the joint integrity status. Among these, doping the adhesive with carbon nanotubes to make the joint conductive and monitoring its electrical resistance change is a promising candidate as it is of relatively low cost and easy to implement.
