A 4-f imaging arrangement of lenses with a camera and a rotating slit placed at the Fourier plane of the system was used to obtain the optical disturbance produced by a macroscopic sample. The sample was illuminated by collimated beams from white-light and thermal radiation sources. The agreement between simulated and experimental results, obtained by processing the captured images using a Fourier ptychographic algorithm, demonstrates that scanning with the slit the direction of the light diffracted by the sample permits achieving the image diversity necessary for successful implementation of the scanning diffracted-light imaging technique.

Spatial-Dependent Spectral Response of Acousto-Optic Tunable Filters with Inhomogeneous Acoustic Distribution.

Materials (Basel)

September 2024

School of Instrumentation and Opto-Electronic Engineering, Beihang University, Beijing 100191, China.

The spectral response of an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) is crucial for an AOTF based spectral imaging system. The acousto-optic (AO) interaction within the spatial-distributed area of the acoustic field determines the spectral response of the light incidence. Assuming an ideally uniform acoustic field distribution, phase-matching geometries can be applied to calculate the anisotropic Bragg diffraction in AO interactions, determining the wavelength and direction of the diffracted light.

Single Shot Lensless Interferenceless Phase Imaging of Biochemical Samples Using Synchrotron near Infrared Beam.

Biosensors (Basel)

November 2022

Phase imaging of biochemical samples has been demonstrated for the first time at the Infrared Microspectroscopy (IRM) beamline of the Australian Synchrotron using the usually discarded near-IR (NIR) region of the synchrotron-IR beam. The synchrotron-IR beam at the Australian Synchrotron IRM beamline has a unique fork shaped intensity distribution as a result of the gold coated extraction mirror shape, which includes a central slit for rejection of the intense X-ray beam. The resulting beam configuration makes any imaging task challenging.

The high-aspect-ratio silicon grating (HARSG) is an important X-ray optical device that is widely used in X-ray imaging and spectrum detection systems. In this paper, we propose a high-precision alignment method based on the scanning beam interference lithography (SBIL) system to realize precise alignment between the <111> orientation on the (110) wafer plane and the grating lines direction, which is an essential step in HARSG manufacture to obtain the high-aspect-ratio grating structure. After the location of the <111> orientation through fan-shaped mask etching and reference grating fabrication, a two-step method that combines static preliminary alignment and dynamic precision alignment is used to align the reference grating lines direction with the interference field fringes of the SBIL system through the interference of the diffracted light from the reference grating near the normal direction, which can realize a minimal alignment error of 0.

We present a new concept for spatial scanning hyperspectral imaging. Spatial scanning is one of the main methods used for hyperspectral data acquisition and can provide high spectral resolution over a wide spectral range. However, conventional techniques, such as the whiskbroom and the pushbroom techniques, suffer from the need for relative motion between the target and the imaging system, which increases the complexity on the hardware side and limits the application possibilities.

Electrochemical Synthesis of Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) Film Having Dot Structures for Diffraction Grating.

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) dot micro/nanostructures are synthesized by electrochemical polymerization in a concentrated hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) liquid crystal electrolyte solution. Surface observations by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy reveal micro/nanostructures having hemisphere-like dots on the surface of the PEDOT film, which causes light diffraction at ultraviolet and visible light wavelengths. The size of the dots depends on the concentration of the HPC electrolyte solution, decreasing with increasing the HPC concentration.
