Bowel endometriosis is a rare condition that may cause catastrophic complications necessitating immediate medical attention. Background: Corrosive substance ingestion is rare but can cause severe injury, especially to the upper gastrointestinal tract, and can be a potentially fatal event. Various surgical procedures have been advocated for gastroesophageal reconstruction, but especially those using the right colon, when the ileocecal valve is preserved for gastric reconstruction, are briefly exposed in literature and have not been studied in humans by controlled studies. Using the right colon is believed to be beneficial because of the anti-reflux mechanism of the ileocecal valve.

Foreign bodies are encountered relatively often within the practice of general surgery. We present a unique case of a rubber, self-retaining, radiopaque "mushroom-tip" Malecot tube placed for fistula drainage control due to an enterocutaneous fistula (ECF) that became a gastrointestinal foreign body. A 24-year-old male presented in shock with gunshot wounds to his right chest and right upper abdomen to a Level I trauma center.

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor. We previously reported spontaneous ileocecal tumorigenesis in AhR-deficient mice after the age of 10 weeks, which originated in the confined area between ileum and cecum. This study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanism that causes tumor development at this particular location.

Meckel's diverticulum, a congenital defect that affects about 2% of the population, is a remnant of the embryologic vitelline duct. Perforated Meckel's diverticulum, a rare consequence of an already rare disease process, frequently presents and is diagnosed as a perforated appendix. We report a case of a 28-year-old male who presented with a two-day history of right-sided lower abdominal pain associated with nausea.

Ascaris-induced intestinal obstruction is a rare complication primarily seen in children in areas with a high prevalence of worm infestations. It can occur through 2 mechanisms: immune-mediated reactions releasing neurotoxins that cause contractions and inflammation in the small intestine (aperistalsis), or mechanical obstruction by adult worms, commonly at the ileocecal valve. Partial obstructions are managed conservatively, while complete obstructions often require surgical intervention.
