Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate breast multiparametric ultrasound (mpUS) and its potential to reduce unnecessary breast biopsies with 1, 2, or 3 additional quantitative parameters (Doppler, elastography, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound [CEUS]) to B-mode and investigate possible variations with different reader experience.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study included 124 women (age range, 18-82 years; mean, 52 years), each with 1 new breast lesion, scheduled for ultrasound-guided biopsy between October 2015 and September 2016. Each lesion was examined with B-mode, elastography (Virtual Touch IQ [VTIQ]), Doppler, and CEUS, and different quantitative parameters were recorded for each modality. Four readers (2 experienced breast radiologists and 2 in-training) independently evaluated B-mode images of each lesion and assigned a BI-RADS (Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System) score. Using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), the most accurate quantitative parameter for each modality was chosen. These were then combined with the BI-RADS scores of all readers. Descriptive statistics and AUC were used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of mpUS.
Results: Sixty-five lesions were malignant. MpUS with B-mode and 2 additional quantitative parameters (VTIQ and CEUS or Doppler) showed the highest diagnostic performance for all readers (averaged AUCs, 0.812-0.789 respectively vs 0.683 for B-mode, P = 0.0001). Both combinations significantly reduced the number of false-positive findings up to 46.9% (P < 0.0001).
Conclusions: Quantitative mpUS with 2 different triple assessment modalities (B-mode, VTIQ elastography, CEUS, or Doppler) shows the best diagnostic performance for breast cancer diagnosis and leads to a significant reduction of false-positive biopsy recommendations, for both experienced and inexperienced readers.

Background: In vascular tissue, macrophages and inflammatory cells produce the enzyme lipoprotein- associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2). Treatment with fibrates decreases Lp-PLA2 levels in individuals with obesity and metabolic syndrome; however, these findings have not been fully clarified.
Objective: The goal of this study was to investigate the possible effects of fibrate therapy on Lp-PLA2 mass and activity through a meta-analysis of clinical trials.

This study aimed to explore the mechanism by which Zn retards Fe toxicity by analyzing the morphological, photosynthetic, and chloroplast physiological parameters of wheat seedlings treated with either single or combined Zn and Fe. Different behavior of the seedlings was observed under untreated and treated conditions. The most discriminating quantitative traits were associated with leaf area, biomass dry mass and fresh mass, net photosynthetic rate, intercellular CO concentration, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate of seedlings, Hill reaction, Mg-ATPase and Ca-ATPase activities, malondialdehyde and O contents, and glutathione reductase, ascorbate peroxidase, peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase activities and their gene expression in the seedling chloroplast.

While few methodological studies have been published on the salivary measurement of malondialdehyde (MDA), none have precisely detailed the analytical method. This work presents the development of an analytical method for MDA measurement in microvolumes of saliva samples from healthy individuals, using thiobarbituric acid derivatization and fluorescence reading of the formed compound. This method was progressively designed to meet specific constraints such as the limited sample volume available, cost-effectiveness of each assay, time required for analysis and costs.

Endodontics, a branch of dentistry, treats diseases and impairments in tissues within and surrounding the natural teeth. The aim of the study was to analyze the publication trends and key features of endodontic research published over the past 20 years across the globe. The quantitative bibliometric research approach was used to extract the data from the Web of Science database.

Aim: To quantitatively analyze the relationship between spherical equivalent refraction (SER) and retinal vascular changes in school-age children with refractive error by applying fundus photography combined with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and explore the structural changes in retinal vasculature in these children.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective case-control study, collecting data on 113 cases involving 226 eyes of schoolchildren aged 6-12 years who attended outpatient clinics in our hospital between October 2021 and May 2022. Based on the refractive spherical equivalent refraction, we categorized the participants into four groups: 66 eyes in the low myopia group, 60 eyes in the intermediate myopia group, 50 eyes in the high myopia group, and 50 eyes in the control group.
