A semi-industrial approach for simultaneous treatment of eggshell and industrial polyvinyl chloride waste utilizing tools of ball milling is reported therein. On a hundred-gram scale, it is possible to transfer more than 55% of chlorine present in the polyvinyl chloride representing an environmental burden, into harmless soluble form. On a laboratory scale, a complete dechlorination was achieved. The ratio of eggshell-to-polyvinyl chloride plays a significant role for the effective dechlorination and the kinetics of semi-industrial process follows zero-order kinetics with the rate constant 1.23 × 10 s. Chlorine is mainly in the form of calcium chloride. This study is an example of efficient simultaneous valorization of two waste materials on a semi-industrial scale, as the products can be utilized again.

In the study of structural materials, the analysis of fracture and deformation resistance plays an important role, particularly in materials widely used in the construction industry, such as poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). PVC is a popular material used, among others, in the manufacture of window profiles, doors, pipes, and many other structural components. The aim of this research was to define the influence of the degree of milling of the glass-fibre-reinforced composite on the strength of the window frame welds, and in the next step, to propose new welding parameters to obtain sufficient strength properties that allow reducing the cost of the technological welding operation.

Chrysoidin (CG) can be ingested into the human body through the skin and cause chronic toxicity, so the detection of CG levels in the environment is crucial. In this study, we synthesize F-Ag@ZIF-8/PVC molecular-imprinted membranes (FZAP-MIM) by an innovative combination of SERS detection, membrane separation, and a molecular-imprinted technique in order to perform the analysis of CG in water. The plasmonic MOF material as a SERS substrate helps to enrich the target and realize the spatial overlap of the target with the nanoparticle tip "hotspot".

Polymer nanocomposites have been investigated as lightweight and suitable alternatives to lead-based clothing. The present study aims to fabricate flexible, lead-free, X-ray-shielding composites using a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) matrix and different nanostructures. Four different nanostructures containing impure tungsten oxide, tungsten oxide (WO), barium tungstate (BaWO), and bismuth tungstate (BiWO) were synthesized through various methods.

The increasing global demand for plastic has raised the need for effective waste plastic management due to its long lifetime and resistance to environmental degradation. There is a need for rapid plastic identification to improve the mechanical waste plastic sorting process. This study presents a novel application of Temperature-Programmed Desorption-Direct Analysis in Real Time-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (TPD-DART-HRMS) that enables rapid characterization of various plastics.
