Background: Growing evidence indicates that noncombustible products could be a tobacco harm reduction tool for smokers who do not quit. The Tobacco Heating System (THS) emits substantially lower levels of harmful cigarette smoke constituents, and previous randomized clinical studies showed improved levels of biomarkers of potential harm (BoPH) linked to smoking-related disease.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study of healthy participants (n = 982) who (i) smoked cigarettes, (ii) had voluntarily switched from smoking to THS use, or (iii) formerly smoked, blood and urine samples were assayed for nine BoPH.

The term early life stress encompasses traumatic events occurring before the age of 18 years, such as physical abuse, verbal abuse, household dysfunctions, sexual abuse, childhood neglect, child maltreatment, and adverse childhood experiences. Adverse psychological experiences in early life are linked to enduring effects on mental and physical health in adulthood. In this review, we first describe the effects and potential mechanisms of early life stress on the components of the vasculature.

Background: Several modifiable risk factors, including dietary habits, are linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD) progression. However, lifestyle changes remain notoriously challenging, perhaps due to psychosocial factors. This pilot study aims to investigate the relationship between adherence to a healthy diet, CVD risk factors, psychological factors and sociodemographic variables among middle-aged adults in Sweden.

Background: This study aims to investigate the correlation between oxidative balance score (OBS) and all-cause, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and respiratory-related mortality within a cohort that includes older asthma patients with diabetes.
Methods: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning from 2001 to 2018, which included 611 participants, were analyzed. Mortality outcomes were determined by linking the data to National Death Index (NDI) records through December 31, 2019.

The interactions between sugar maple (, Marshall) and its microbial communities are important for tree fitness, growth, and establishment. Despite recent progress in our understanding of the rhizosphere and phyllosphere microbial communities of sugar maple, many outstanding knowledge gaps remain. This review delves into the relationships between sugar maple and its microbes, as climate change alters plant species distributions.
