Infective endocarditis (IE) is a serious cardiac infection of the endocardium, native and prosthetic valves, or cardiac device. In this case study, we report a case of an immunocompetent patient with severe aortic valve endocarditis. A 54-year-old female presented to the emergency department with progressive shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations, and cough for a period of 20 days.

Objective: To describe the treatment outcomes of patients who underwent tube pericardiostomy for all etiologies of non-traumatic massive pericardial effusion or tamponade during the COVID-19 pandemic and determine the association between patient profile and treatment outcomes.
Methods: Data were obtained from patients with massive pericardial effusion or cardiac tamponade who underwent surgical drainage from January 1, 2020, to September 1, 2022, in the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH). These patients' demographic and clinical profiles, and treatment outcomes were evaluated using frequencies and percentages.

Background: INSTANT (INhalation of flecainide to convert recent-onset SympTomatic Atrial fibrillatioN to sinus rhyThm) was a multicenter, open-label, single-arm study of flecainide acetate oral inhalation solution (FlecIH) for acute conversion of recent-onset (≤48 hours) symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) to sinus rhythm.
Objectives: This study investigated the efficacy and safety in 98 patients receiving a single dose of FlecIH delivered via oral inhalation.
Methods: Patients self-administered FlecIH over 8 minutes in a supervised medical setting using a breath-actuated nebulizer and were continuously monitored for 90 minutes using a 12-lead Holter.
