In this study, a novel strategy for amplified electrochemiluminescence (ECL) detection of DNA was proposed based on excellent ECL activity of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) coupled with multiple cycling amplification technique. A new type of graphene QDs with well ECL property and uniform size were firstly synthesized, then the graphene QDs were assembled on the electrode by poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA)-graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites, which could greatly improve ECL signal and stability of QDs. A novel signal-on ECL biosensor for DNA analysis was designed by using ECL quenching of gold nanoparticles (NPs) to graphene QDs combined with endonuclease-aided cyclic amplification strategy. As a result, the proposed strategy can be conveniently expanded to other biosensing application, especially in clinical diagnoses.

Microwave synthesis of molybdenum disulfide quantum dots and the application in bilirubin sensing.

Methods Appl Fluoresc

January 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, No.36 Sanhao Street, Heping District, Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China, Shenyang, 110004, CHINA.

Molybdenum disulfide quantum dots (MoS2 QDs) is a new type of graphite like nanomaterial, which exhibited well chemical stability, unique fluorescence characteristics, and excellent biocompatibility. The conventional hydrothermal synthesis of MoS2 generally requires a long-term reaction at high temperature and high pressure. Herein, we have developed a simple and fast MoS2 QDs synthesis scheme using microwave heating, and further modified the surface of MoS2 QDs using 3-aminophenylboronic acid.

Tunable Quantum Confinement in Individual Nanoscale Quantum Dots via Interfacial Engineering.

Center for Advanced Quantum Studies, School of Physics and Astronomy, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China.

Introducing quantum confinement has shown promise to enable control of charge carriers. Although recent advances make it possible to realize confinement from semiclassical regime to quantum regime, achieving control of electronic potentials in individual nanoscale quantum dots (QDs) has remained challenging. Here, we demonstrate the ability to tune quantum confined states in individual nanoscale graphene QDs, which are realized by inserting nanoscale monolayer WSe islands in graphene/WSe heterostructures via interfacial engineering.

November 2024

Department of Microelectronic Science and Engineering, School of Physical Science and Technology, Ningbo University, Ningbo, 315211, P. R. China.

To expand the detection capabilities of silicon (Si)-based photodetector and address key scientific challenges such as low light absorption efficiency and short carrier lifetime in Si-based graphene photodetector. This work introduces a novel Si-based Schottky coupled structure by in situ growth of 3D-graphene and molybdenum disulfide quantum dots (MoS QDs) on Si substrates using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) techniques. The findings validate the "dual-enhanced absorption" effect, enhancing the understanding of the mechanisms that improve optoelectronic performance.

Integration of graphene and quantum dots (QD) is a promising route to improved material and device functionalities. Underlying the improved properties are alterations in carrier dynamics within the graphene/QD heterostructure. In this study, it is shown that graphene functions as a carrier redistribution and supply channel when integrated with InAs QDs.
