Background: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neuro-developmental disorder that often persists into adulthood. Moreover, it is frequently accompanied by bipolar disorder (BD) as well as borderline personality disorder (BPD). It is unclear whether these disorders share underlying pathomechanisms, given that all three are characterized by alterations in affective states, either long or short-term.

Background: N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) appears promising as a treatment in patients with substance use disorder (SUD) as it helps rebalance glutamate levels in the central nervous system (CNS). Basal concentrations of glutamate are indeed reduced in SUD patients but increased during craving.

Purpose Of Review: To provide an update of systematic reviews, meta-analyses and recent clinical outcome studies for personality disorder (PD) in order to investigate the state of the art of the evidence of psychotherapy for personality disorders.
Recent Findings: Few outcome studies in patients with Cluster A and Cluster C PD have been conducted, which limits the conclusions which can be drawn. Most recently published research has been conducted with borderline PD.

Introduction: Individuals diagnosed with depression frequently experience self-criticism, leading to considerable psychological distress. Despite the availability of cognitive-behavioral treatments, a notable proportion of patients indicate that they solely experience cognitive improvements, without the corresponding emotional changes, following therapy.
