Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) is the most advanced fusion experiment in the stellarator line and is aimed at proving that the stellarator concept is suitable for a fusion reactor. One of the most important issues for fusion reactors is the monitoring of plasma facing components when exposed to very high heat loads, through the use of visible and infrared (IR) cameras. In this paper, a new image processing system for the analysis of the strike lines on the inboard limiters from the first W7-X experimental campaign is presented. This system builds a model of the IR cameras through the use of spatial calibration techniques, helping to characterize the strike lines by using the information given by real spatial coordinates of each pixel. The characterization of the strike lines is made in terms of position, size, and shape, after projecting the camera image in a 2D grid which tries to preserve the curvilinear surface distances between points. The description of the strike-line shape is made by means of the Fourier Descriptors.

Healthcare is increasingly impacted by chronic short staffing of nurses, which causes and is caused by increased nurse burnout and decreased retention. Nurses' unions seek to address these problems by proposing safer nurse-to-patient ratios, retention bonuses for working through the COVID-19 pandemic, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stockpiles, sabbatical leaves, measures aimed at reducing workplace violence, and maintaining or increasing wages and benefits to keep nurses at the bedside. Chronic short staffing and burnout directly affect the quality and availability of patient care-as the International Council of Nurses has pointed out, there is no healthcare without healthcare workers.

Background: In medicine, x-rays are used to generate images of tissues and structures inside the body. X-rays are emitted by a source device and, after passing through the body, strike a detector, which forms an image of the tissues and structures the x-rays passed through. Dual-energy subtraction (DES) x-ray systems use radiation of different energy spectra (energy levels) and the principle of differential absorption characteristics of bone and soft tissue to produce separate bone and soft tissue x-ray images, in addition to a conventional x-ray image.

Following successful campaigns on the compact high field spherical tokamak ST40, resistive gold foil bolometers have now been installed to measure the radiated power profile. Positioned on the midplane, two bolometer cameras offer perspectives of the horizontal and vertical planes, while the third camera, situated above the midplane, provides a vertical view of the top divertor plates, including the X-point and the strike points. These cameras use a commercial off-the-shelf data acquisition platform with modules specifically designed for bolometers in a Wheatstone bridge configuration, providing both phase sensitive detection and in situ calibration.

Acquired amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia (AATP) is a rare disorder in which severely low platelet levels occur due to reduced or complete absence of megakaryocytes in the bone marrow. The pathophysiology of this disease is not fully understood, although anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies (anti-TPO) binding to cellular-myeloproliferative leukemia (c-mpl) receptors is a proposed mechanism. Currently, no standard published guideline for treatment exists, but immunosuppressive therapies have been used based on the proposed mechanism and associated conditions.
