Arginine vasopressin (AVP) plays a crucial role in various physiological processes including water reabsorption, cardiovascular homeostasis, hormone secretion, and social behavior. AVP acts through three distinct receptor subtypes, i.e.

Diuretic Potentiation Strategies in Acute Heart Failure.

JACC Heart Fail

January 2025

Department of Medicine, University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi, USA; Baylor Scott and White Research Institute, Baylor Scott and White Health, Dallas, Texas, USA. Electronic address:

Several trials have evaluated diuretic-based strategies to improve symptoms and outcomes in patients with acute heart failure (AHF). The authors sought to summarize the effect of different combination strategies on symptoms, physical signs, physiological variables, and outcomes in patients with AHF. Twelve trials were identified that assessed the addition of thiazide diuretics, sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, vasopressin receptor antagonists, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, or loop diuretic intensification to conventional therapy for AHF.

Arginine vasopressin and angiotensin II coregulate Aquaporin 2 expression in M-1 cells.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

School of Pharmacy, Anhui University of Chinese Medicine, Hefei, China; Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicinal Formula, Hefei, China; Institute for Pharmacodynamics and Safety Evaluation of Chinese Medicine, Anhui Academy of Chinese Medicine, Hefei, China. Electronic address:

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the impact of arginine vasopressin (AVP) and angiotensin II (Ang II) on aquaporin 2 (AQP2) expression in M - 1 cells.

Methods: M - 1 cells were stimulated with desmopressin (dDAVP) and Ang II, followed by treatment with tolvaptan and losartan. The expression and protein levels of V2R, AT1R, AQP2, and p-S256AQP2 were measured via ELISA, western blotting, RT-qPCR, and immunofluorescence.

Analyzing the adverse events of NK-1 receptor antagonists: a pharmacovigilance study from the FAERS database.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Department of Pharmacy, Suzhou Research Center of Medical School, Suzhou Hospital, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University, Suzhou, 215153, China.

Background: NK-1 receptor antagonists (NK-1RAs) are proven to be successful in preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). The safety profile of NK-1RAs has not been systematically analyzed in the real world. This pharmacovigilance study investigated the differences in adverse events (AEs) between NK-1RAs.

Although angiotensin 1-7 (Ang 1-7) and its role as a part of the "protective" axis of the renin-angiotensin system are well described in the literature, the mechanisms of its angiotensin II-like pressor and tachycardic effects following its acute central administration are not fully understood. It was the aim of the present study to examine which receptors contribute to the aforementioned cardiovascular effects. Ang 1-7 and antagonists for glutamate, GABA, vasopressin, thromboxane A (TP), α-adrenergic, and P2X purinoceptors or modulators of oxidative stress were injected into the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus (PVN) of urethane-anesthetized male Wistar rats.
