Teriparatide (Human recombinant Parathyroid Hormone 1-34) is an anabolic agent that is frequently used in patients with osteoporosis and has been extensively investigated with animal model and clinical studies in current literature. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the impact of teriparatide on bone mineral density and fusion. The findings from preclinical studies that have investigated the role of teriparatide in animal models are summarized in presented review. Overall, the studies show an improvement in bone mineral density and increased fusion rates for osteoporotic animals undergoing spine fusion with teriparatide use. Further studies should be conducted for unanswered questions, such as teriparatide use before surgery, the effect on cervical fusion and surgery related complications.

Background: Insulin resistance often occurs in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) owing to mineral and bone metabolism disorders. Fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-23 and soluble klotho (s-KL) play crucial roles in linking CKD with mineral and bone metabolism.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between insulin resistance and FGF-23 and s-KL in patients with non-diabetic pre-dialysis patients with CKD.

Mineralizing cells release a special class of extracellular vesicles known as matrix vesicles (MV), crucial for bone mineralization. Following their release, MV anchor to the extracellular matrix (ECM), where their highly specialized enzymatic machinery facilitates the formation of seed mineral within the MV's lumen, subsequently releasing it onto the ECM. However, how MV propagate mineral onto the collagenous ECM remains unclear.

Background: RANKL and SCLEROSTIN antibodies have provided a strong effective choice for treating osteoporosis in the past years, which suggested novel molecular target identification and therapeutic strategies development are important for the treatment of osteoporosis. The therapeutic effect of verapamil, a drug previously used for cardiovascular diseases, on diabetes was due to the inhibition of TXNIP expression, which has also been reported as a target in mice osteoporosis. Whether verapamil-inhibited TXNIP expression is related to osteoporosis and how it works on the molecular level is worthy to be explored.

Background: Aim was to demonstrate the influencing factors of infant bone mineral density (BMD) and its correlation with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-(OH)D) in nursing mothers.
Methods: 200 children aged 0 č 1 years were rolled into normal group (n=120) and abnormal group (n=80) regarding the results of ultrasound BMD examination. The sunshine duration of infants with different BMD and 25(OH)D, calcium and phosphorus levels of nursing mothers were analyzed, and univariate and multivariate analyses of BMD were implemented.

Unlabelled: Dietary acid load could be associated with bone mass, but there are limited and conflicting results. This secondary cross-sectional analysis evaluated these associations among 123 children/adolescents, mostly Hispanics. Dietary acid load seems to be associated with bone mass in boys, but these results should be confirmed through long-term studies.
