Importance: Neonatal protein intake following very preterm birth has long lasting effects on brain development. However, it is uncertain whether these effects are associated with improved or impaired brain maturation.

Objective: To assess the association of neonatal protein intake following very preterm birth with brain structure at 7 years of age.

Drosophila modeling to identify causative genes and reveal the underlying molecular mechanisms for primary ovarian insufficiency.

J Mol Med (Berl)

January 2025

Division of Human Reproduction and Developmental Genetics, Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, 310058, Zhejiang, China.

Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a disease defined as a reduction in ovarian function under the age of 40 and represents the main cause of female infertility. In recent years, many genetic mutations associated with POI have been identified using high-throughput sequencing technology. However, one big challenge today is to determine the disease-causing gene associations through functional assessment.

Enhanced Efficiency and Stability in Blade-Coated Perovskite Solar Cells through Using 2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorophenylethylammonium Halide Additives.

The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells is sensitive to their method of fabrication as well as the combination of materials in the perovskite layer. Air knife-assisted blade coating enables good quality perovskite films to be formed but the device efficiencies still tend to lag behind those fabricated using spin-coated perovskite layers. Herein we report the use of three 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenylethylammonium halides (FEAX, where X = I, Br or Cl) as additives in nitrogen knife-assisted blade-coated methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI) perovskite solar cells.

We combine atomistic and continuum simulation methods to study the defect chemistry of a model grain boundary in UO. Using atomistic methods, we calculate the formation energies of oxygen interstitials, uranium vacancies, and hole polarons (U ions) across the Σ5(310)[001] symmetric tilt grain boundary. This information is then used as input in a continuum model of point-defect concentrations at the grain boundary and in its vicinity, taking into account electrostatic (space-charge) effects.

In situ X-ray reciprocal space mapping was performed during the interval heating and cooling of InGaN/GaN quantum wells (QWs) grown via metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). Our detailed in situ X-ray analysis enabled us to track changes in the peak intensities and radial and angular broadenings of the reflection. By simulating the radial diffraction profiles recorded during the thermal cycle treatment, we demonstrate the presence of indium concentration distributions (ICDs) in the different QWs of the heterostructure (1.
