While the development of a fistulous tract from the kidney to the proximal adjacent organs is relatively common, a tract leading to the skin is a rare occurrence. The primary cause of a fistula is prior surgical intervention or malignancy leading to abscess formation. Our case involves Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) causing a longstanding lobulated abscess, ultimately leading to the formation of a fistulous tract.

Septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) is a reversible cardiac dysfunction occurring in patients with sepsis or septic shock, characterized by transient impaired myocardial contractility. Despite its prevalence in severe sepsis and significant impact on patient outcomes, SCM remains underdiagnosed and is one of the least studied forms of cardiomyopathy. Introduction: Laparoscopic simple nephrectomy (LSNx) is among the gold standard options for management of selected poorly functioning and most non-functioning kidneys (PFK/NFKs). Our objective was to audit our patients who had undergone LSNx for benign causes and assess their perioperative outcomes and analyse the factors correlating with these outcomes.
Materials And Methods: We reviewed our prospectively collected data of patients with PFK/NFKs due to benign causes who underwent a LSNx on a three-dimensional (3D) system via a transperitoneal approach between January 2017 and June 2023.

Surgical excision was done out of concern for possible malignancy.
