Glutathione reductase (GR) maintains the cellular redox state by reducing oxidized glutathione to glutathione (GSH), which regulates antioxidant defense. Additionally, GR plays an essential role in photosynthesis; however, the mechanism by which GR regulates photosystem II (PSII) is largely unknown. We identified six, three, and three GR genes in Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium arboreum, and Gossypium raimondii, respectively.

The B lymphoma Mo-MLV insertion region 1 homolog (Bmi-1) protein of the polycomb complex is an essential mediator of the epigenetic transcriptional silencing by the chromatin structure. It has been reported to be crucial for homeostasis of the stem cells and tumorigenesis. Though years of investigation have clarified Bmi-1's transcriptional regulation, post-translational modifications, and functions in controlling cellular bioenergetics, pathologies, and DNA damage response, the full potential of this protein with so many diverse roles are still unfulfilled.

Objectives: Communication barriers, such as channels, comfort, and location, can negatively impact Black prostate cancer survivors' experiences and health outcomes after treatment. Addressing these barriers promotes a survivor-centric approach that views survivors as active partners in their care. This study explored the communication preferences of Black prostate cancer survivors, focusing on preferred channels, sources, and locations for enhanced quality of life.

Background: Exogenous double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) has the potential to serve as an effective alternative to conventional chemical pesticides for the control of insect pests, because it can specifically inhibit essential gene expression in these organisms. However, identifying suitable gene targets remains a crucial step in the development of RNA interference (RNAi)-based pest control strategies.
Results: In this study, three apoptosis-related genes were selected to evaluate their potential for RNAi-induced lethality in Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata via foliar spray dsRNAs.

Curcuma wenyujin is acknowledged as a crucial medicinal plant containing essential oils, primarily composed of sesquiterpenoids. While numerous sesquiterpenoids exhibit versatile physiological activities, their levels in C. wenyujin are generally low, particularly the pivotal anti-cancer component elemene.
