Assessing wood fracture behavior is essential in the design of structural timber elements and connections. This is particularly the case for connections with the possibility of brittle splitting failure. The numerical cohesive zone models that are used to simulate the fracture behavior of wood make it necessary to assume a cohesive law of the material that relates cohesive tractions and crack opening displacements ahead of the crack tip. This work addresses the determination of the fracture cohesive laws of , a hardwood species with great potential in timber engineering. This study centres on Mode I fracture loading for RL and TL crack propagation systems using Double Cantilever Beam tests. The Compliance-Based Beam Method is applied as the data reduction scheme in order to obtain the strain energy release rate from the load-displacement curves. The cohesive laws are determined by differentiating the relationship between strain energy release rate and crack tip opening displacement. The latter is measured by the digital image correlation technique. High strain energy release rates were obtained for this species, with no big differences between crack propagation systems. The difference between the crack systems is somewhat more pronounced in terms of maximum stress that determines the respective cohesive laws.

Introduction: More extensive and cohesive studies on quadriceps tendon rupture (QTR) repair surgery are required to guide effective treatment strategies. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to identify predictors of subjective functional recovery following QTR repair surgery.
Materials And Methods: This multicentre retrospective cohort study enrolled 191 adults (age ≥ 18 years) who underwent surgical unilateral QTR repair (2010-2022) and had ≥ 1-year postoperative follow-up at three trauma centres in Germany.

Mucosal membranes with strong variability in their viscoelastic properties line numerous organs and are often targeted by mucoadhesive formulations, e.g., highly swellable hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and slightly cross-linked poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) tablets.

The growing global exchange of healthcare data requires more cohesive and effective regulatory frameworks to ensure fair access and protect patient privacy. However, cross-border regulatory rules for healthcare data diverge across countries, such as the EU, which highlights personal data rights and restricts cross-border flow of healthcare data through the GDPR, the United States, which emphasizes the free flow of healthcare data trade or services, and China, which emphasizes cross-border regulatory rules for healthcare data at the level of national data security. Such inconsistent policies often impede international medical research collaborations, undermine the effectiveness of telemedicine, and create barriers for healthcare providers to share patient information.

As an important civil and military infrastructure, airport runway pavement is faced with threats from cluster munitions, since it is vulnerable to projectile impacts with internal explosions. Aiming at the damage assessment of an island airport runway pavement under impact, this work dealt with discrete modeling of rigid projectile penetration into concrete pavement and the calcareous sand subgrade multi-layer structure. First, the Discrete Element Method (DEM) is introduced to model concrete and calcareous sand granular material features, like cohesive fracture and strain hardening due to compression, with mesoscale constitutive laws governing the normal and shear interactions between adjacent particles.

Background: Oncology outreach is a common strategy for addressing cancer workforce shortages, where traveling oncologists commute across clinical settings to extend their services. Despite its known benefits specifically for rural patients, oncology outreach reallocates physician resources to satellite clinics and may negatively impact the coordination of cancer care.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we identified patients with incident breast, colorectal, and lung cancers from 2016-2019 nationwide Medicare claims and linked them to oncologists using Part B.
