is an emerging pathogen that needs to be controlled effectively due to its association with a high mortality rate. The presence of biofilms on dry surfaces has been shown to be widespread in healthcare settings. We produced a dry surface biofilm (DSB) on stainless steel surfaces following sequential hydration and desiccation cycles for 12 days. The ASTM2967-15 was used to measure the reduction in viability of 12 commercially wipe-based disinfectants and sodium hypochlorite (1000 ppm) against DSB. We also evaluated transferability and biofilm regrowth post-treatment. A peracetic acid (3500 ppm) product and two chlorine-based products (1000 ppm available chlorine) were successful in reducing viability and delaying DSB regrowth. However, 50% of the products tested failed to decrease viability, 58% failed to prevent its transferability, and 75% did not delay biofilm regrowth. Using three different parameters to measure product efficacy provided a practical evaluation of product effectiveness against DSB. Although log reduction in viability is traditionally measured, transferability is an important factor to consider from an infection control and prevention point of view as it allows for determination of whether the surface is safe to touch by patients and hospital staff post-treatment.

We studied freshly collected, dried and herbarized leaf fragments of two palms, namely L. and L., most commonly used for palm-leaf manuscript (PLM) production in South (S) and Southeast Asia (SE) in order to reveal differences in their phytolith assemblages.

This work investigates the surface chemistry of the Ru/CeO catalyst under varying pretreatment conditions and during the oxidation of propane, focusing on both dry and humid environments. Our results show that the Ru/CeO catalyst calcined in O at 500 °C initiates propane oxidation at 200 °C, achieves high conversion rates above 400 °C, and demonstrates almost no change in activity in the presence of water vapor across the entire studied temperature range of 200-500 °C. Prereduction of the oxidized Ru/CeO catalyst in H significantly enhances its activity, though this enhancement diminishes at higher temperatures.

Fluoropolymer alone, as an alternative to lead-based piezoelectric materials, has shown multiple challenges to develop useful sensors for solving real-world problems such as photoacoustic, ultrasound pulse echo, and other non-destructive testing. This work demonstrates the fabrication of high frequency and wide bandwidth transducers with fluoropolymer and highly polarizing cubic single crystal Barium titanate (BaTiO) ceramic composite for high resolution in-vivo photo-acoustic and ultrasound imaging. For transducer fabrication, a customized bio-compatible nanocomposite sensor film of PVDF-TrFE (Polyvinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene)/BaTiO (BTO) is synthesized by drop and dry in heating-cum-electro-poling system for advancing polarization, crystallinity, and higher charge generation.

Fiber-reinforced polymer composites are subjected to harsh environmental conditions over the course of their designed lifespan. Studying the aging process of fiber-reinforced polymer composites exposed to boiling water is critical for improving their durability. This study uses a hand lay-up technique to fabricate composites from glass fiber, bamboo fiber, nanoclay, and epoxy.

Astragalus mongholicus is a perennial Chinese medicinal herb in the family Leguminosae widely cultivated in China. In September 2023, A. mongholicus plants in a field in Weiyuan County, Gansu Province, showed symptoms of circular or irregular brown, sunken and necrotic lesions, multiple lesions coalesced, and brown longitudinal cracks in the roots.
