Translation of mRNA into protein is a fundamental process and tightly controlled during development. Several mechanisms acting on the mRNA level regulate when and where an mRNA is expressed. To explore the effects of conditional and transient gene expression in a developing organism, it is vital to experimentally enable abrogation and restoration of translation.

Accurate measurement of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 in the population is crucial for understanding the dynamics of disease transmission and evaluating the impacts of interventions. However, it was particularly challenging to achieve this in the early phase of a pandemic because of the sparsity of epidemiological data. We previously developed an early pandemic diagnostic tool that linked minimum datasets: seroprevalence, mortality and infection testing data to estimate the true exposure in different regions of England and found levels of SARS-CoV-2 population exposure to be considerably higher than suggested by seroprevalence surveys.

Research elucidating the role of the microbiome in carcinogenesis has grown exponentially over the past decade. Initially isolated to associative studies on colon cancer development, the field has expanded to encompass nearly every solid and liquid malignancy that may afflict the human body. Investigations are rapidly progressing from association to causation and one particular area of causal effect relates to microbial metabolites and how they influence cancer development, progression, and treatment response.

Background: In East and Southern Africa, treatment of people with concomitant cancer and HIV is complicated by siloed service delivery pathways, which exacerbate barriers to care and impact clinical decision-making. Integrating HIV care into cancer treatment centers may improve service delivery and overall patient outcomes.
Methods: We administered a questionnaire to clinicians and support staff at tertiary cancer referral centers in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and South Africa to assess level of concern about clinical management of people with HIV (PWH) and cancer, barriers to integrating HIV service delivery into cancer treatment delivery, and beliefs related to HIV, antiretroviral therapy (ART), and integrated care.

lncRNAs play important regulatory roles in almost every aspect of physiological processes. However, the mechanisms by which animal-encoded lncRNAs regulate the interaction of viral infection with host antiviral immunity are unknown. To explore the mechanisms of lncRNA regulation of SVV infection and interferon responses.
