The transformation of low cost sugar feedstocks into market chemicals and monomers for existing or novel high performance polymers by chemical catalysis is reviewed. Emphasis is given to industrially relevant, continuous flow, trickle bed processes. Since long-term catalyst stability under hydrothermal conditions is an important issue to be addressed in liquid phase catalysis using carbohydrate feedstocks, we will primarily discuss the results of catalytic performance for prolonged times on stream. In particular, the selective aerobic oxidation of glucose to glucaric acid and the subsequent selective hydrogenation to adipic acid is reviewed. Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), which is readily available from fructose, can be upgraded by oxidation to furan dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) or by consecutive reduction and hydrogenolysis to hexanetriol (HTO) followed by hydrogenolysis to biobased hexanediol (HDO). Direct amination of HDO yields biobased hexamethylene diamine (HMDA). Aerobic oxidation of HDO represents an alternative route to biobased adipic acid. HMDA and adipic acid are the monomers required for the production of nylon- 6,6, a major polymer for engineering and fibre applications.

Background/objectives: Clofazimine (CFZ) is a Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) II drug introduced in the US market in 1986 for the treatment of leprosy. However, CFZ was later withdrawn from the market due to its extremely low aqueous solubility and low absorption. In the literature, the intrinsic solubility of CFZ has been estimated to be <0.

Although 3D printing is becoming a dominant technique for scaffold preparation in bone tissue engineering (TE), developing hydrogel-based ink compositions with bioactive and self-healing properties remains a challenge. This research focuses on developing a bone scaffold based on a composite hydrogel, which maintains its self-healing properties after incorporating bioactive glass and is 3D-printable. The plain hydrogel ink was synthesized using natural polymers of 1 wt % N-carboxyethyl chitosan, 2 wt % hyaluronic acid aldehyde, 0.

Background: Intestinal inflammation is a common and serious health problem in piglet production, especially enteritis caused by pathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli). This condition often leads to high mortality, slow weight gain, and significant economic losses.

Specific migration of 2,2'-oxydiethylamine was tested from a polyamide film in water and was below the limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.015 mg/kg.

Pimozide is a first-generation antipsychotic used in the treatment of schizophrenia, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome, and other chronic psychoses. Its in vivo efficacy is limited by poor solubility and consequent poor bioavailability. Therefore, adipic acid was used as a coformer for the preparation of a binary product with improved pharmaceutical properties.
