The standard of YY/T 0481-2004 Medical diagnostic X-ray equipment-Radiation conditions for use in the determination and characteristics has been revised and replaced in 2012. This paper first introduces the key technical problems to be solved in establishing standard radiation quality and radiation conditions by comparing the main changes of the two versions standards, including the expression of radiation quality and radiation conditions, the measurement of X-ray tube voltage, and the measuring of the practical peak voltage. Then it introduces a procedure for establishing standard radiation quality and radiation conditions.

Atlantoaxial dislocation (AAD) is a serious condition in which the first two cervical vertebrae lose their anatomical position and stability. This may lead to neurological complications, including death. The treatment of AAD remains controversial, and posterior instrumentation with pedicle screw placement is one of the commonly used methods.

There are 275,000 new cases of oral cancer (OC) per year, making it the sixth most common cancer in the world. Severe adverse effects, including loss of function, deformity, and systemic toxicity, are familiar with traditional therapies such as radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery; due to their unique properties, nanoparticles (NPs) have emerged as a superior alternative over chemo/radiotherapy and surgery due to their targeting capability, bioavailability, compatibility, and high solubility. Due to their unique properties, metallic NPs have garnered significant attention in OC control.

Extracellular thiol isomerase ERp5 regulates integrin αIIbβ3 activation by inhibition of fibrinogen binding.

Platelets

December 2025

Cyrus Tang Medical Institute, The Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, Collaborative Innovation Center of Hematology, State Key Laboratory of Radiation Medicine and Prevention, Soochow University, Suzhou, China.

Recent studies have shown that anti-ERp5 antibodies inhibit platelet activation and thrombus formation; Moreover, ERp5-deficient platelets exhibit enhanced platelet reactivity via regulation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. In this study, we used a new ERp5-knockout mouse model as well as recombinant ERp5 (rERp5) protein, to examine the role of ERp5 in platelet function and thrombosis. Although platelet-specific ERp5-deficient mice had decreased platelet count, the mice had shortened tail-bleeding times and enhanced platelet accumulation in FeCl-induced mesenteric artery injury, compared with wild-type mice.

Background: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) presents a significant clinical challenge due to its high fatality rate and limited surgical candidacy. With only 30-40% of patients eligible for surgery upon diagnosis, alternative therapies are imperative. This study assesses the efficacy of Yttrium-90 (Y-90) radioembolization for unresectable ICC patients in a non-university tertiary care center (NUTCC).

Treatment approaches in advanced penile cancer: targeted therapies and immunotherapy.

Front Oncol

January 2025

Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, United States.

Penile cancer is a rare genitourinary malignancy which can be treated with surgery or radiation for localized disease, but often requires systemic treatment with chemotherapy for recurrent or metastatic disease. With the emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors and targeted therapies for specific genomic aberrations in the treatment of over a dozen other cancers, recent studies have sought to identify therapies other than chemotherapy in treating this uncommon cancer. Several ongoing trials involving immune checkpoint inhibitors, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and antibody drug conjugates are attempting to identify additional therapies.
