Although living donor liver transplantation has evolved, small-for-size syndrome remains a feared complication. Achieving optimal outflow for the graft with limited donor risk is possible with an experienced team and different techniques. Here we describe the technical aspects of living donor liver transplantation using a right lobe graft, including the different types of grafts, venous reconstructions and the importance of preoperative workup.

Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Post-Traumatic Headache: A Systematic Review.

Curr Pain Headache Rep

January 2025

Department of Neurology, Danish Headache Center, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet, Valdemar Hansens Vej 5, Entrance 1A, 2600 Glostrup, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Purpose Of Review: To evaluate existing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies on post-traumatic headache (PTH) following traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Recent Findings: We conducted a systematic search of PubMed and Embase databases from inception to February 1, 2024. Eligible fMRI studies were required to include adult participants diagnosed with acute or persistent PTH post-TBI in accordance with any edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders.

A fluorescent sensor based on pentafluoropropanoic acid-functionalized UiO-66-NH for enhanced selectivity and sensitivity of dicloran detection.

Mikrochim Acta

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Eco-Functional Polymer Materials of the Ministry of Education, Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials of Gansu Province, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou, 730070, Gansu, China.

A pentafluoropropionic acid-functionalized fluorescent metal-organic framework material (UiO-66-NH-PFPA) is prepared by a simple post-synthetic modification (PSM) strategy for the sensitive and selective detection of dichloran (DCN). The results of fluorescence experiments demonstrate that the sensitivity of UiO-66-NH-PFPA (limit of detection, LOD = 0.478 μM) to DCN is nearly 10.

Introduction: Biofilms may show varying adherence strengths to dentine. This study quantified the shear force required for the detachment of multispecies biofilm from the dentine using fluid dynamic gauging (FDG) and computation fluid dynamics (CFD). To date this force has not been quantified.

Lack of intracranial atherosclerosis in various atherosclerotic mouse models.

Vasc Biol

January 2025

M Daemen, Pathology, Amsterdam UMC Location AMC, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Background: Although mice are used extensively to study atherosclerosis of different vascular beds, limited data is published on the occurrence of intracranial atherosclerosis. Since intracranial atherosclerosis is a common cause of stroke and is associated with dementia, a relevant animal model is needed to study these diseases.

Methods And Results: We examined the presence of intracranial atherosclerosis in different atherogenic mouse strains and studied differences in vessel wall characteristics in mouse and human tissue in search for possible explanations for the different atherosclerotic susceptibility between extracranial and intracranial vessels.
