Introduction: Orbital meningioma treatment has achieved significant success over the last period. Primary optic nerve sheath meningiomas by the clinically progressive finding, but still persistent sufficient visual acuity, can be treated by fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy. Surgery is indicated for secondary meningiomas of the orbit. Surgical treatment is indicated due to intracranial tumor propagation of meningioma from the chiasm towards the orbit.
Material And Methods: In the period 2014 - 2016 we monitored in dispensary 15 patients with meningioma of the orbit, who were checked at least in yearly intervals and underwent magnetic resonance examination of the orbit and brain.
Results: In group of 15 patients with histologically unverified meningioma of the orbit, the surgical solution was indicated in 3 patients. In 14 (93.3%) patients meningiomas were secondary infiltrating orbit from the intracranial part of visual pathways, and in 1 case meningioma was primary arising from the optic nerv. We indicated enucleation and partial exenteration in 3 (20%) patients. Histopathological examination confirmed meningioma - in two cases gr. I., in one patient gr. II. In all of them, more than 5 years after the primary diagnose of the process, the tumor infiltration from the chiasm towards the orbit was the indication for surgery. In one patient with meningioma gr. II in 12 months interval after surgery - exenteration with lid sparing technique, there was a further progression from the sella turcica area and the growth of tumor masses to the area of the orbital conus. Patient underwent secondary surgical reduction of tumor mass of the orbit and treatment with sandostatin.
Conclusion: When deciding to treat meningioma, it is necessary to involve multidisciplinary collaboration. Ophthalmology examination is important because further treatment is indicated on the basis of changes in visual function in correlation with the imaging methods. In cases of progression of the tumor with the infiltration of the orbit, resulting in the loss of visual acuity, in certain conditions a radical solution - enucleation with partial exenteration of the orbit, is necessary. Key words: meningioma of the orbit, primary tumors of the orbit, secondary tumors of the orbit, enucleation, exenteration with lid sparing technique.

A 39-year-old woman presented a saucer-shaped mass in the left upper eyelid and underwent the extirpation at local anesthesia. Pathologically, collagen fibers, capillaries, small vessels, and CD34-positive spindle cells were dispersed among mature adipose tissues, indicative of spindle cell lipoma. Long-lasting cyst-like eyelid masses would be usually dermoid cysts, and spindle cell lipoma would be listed as a rare pathological diagnosis in differential diagnoses of cyst-like lesions in the upper and lower eyelid.

The detection of intracellular biothiols (cysteine, N-acetyl cysteine, and glutathione) with high selectivity and sensitivity is important to reveal biological functions. In this study, a 2-(2-methoxy-4-methylphenoxy)-3-chloro-5,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione (DDN-O) compound was newly synthesized and used as a fluorogenic probe (detector molecule) in the fluorometric method for the rapid, highly selective, and sensitive determination of biothiols. The intensity values (λ = 260 nm, λ = 620 nm) of the product were measured by adding biothiols to the reaction medium at varying concentrations and the glutathione equivalent thiol content values of each biothiol were calculated.

In sodium-ion batteries, the layered transition metal oxides used as cathode often experience interlayer sliding of interlayer spacing and lattice variations during charge/discharge, leading to structural damage and capacity degradation. To address this challenge, a La doping strategy guided by Bayesian optimization has been employed to prepare the high-performance O3-NaNiMnCuLaO (NMCL) cathode material. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the O 2p orbital overlaps with the t orbital of transition metals in NMCL, facilitating the formation of Na-O-La bonds and promoting the oxygen redox reaction kinetics.

The strategy of designing efficient room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emitters based on hydrogen bond interactions has attracted great attention in recent years. However, the regulation mechanism of the hydrogen bond on the RTP property remains unclear, and corresponding theoretical investigations are highly desired. Herein, the structure-property relationship and the internal mechanism of the hydrogen bond effect in regulating the RTP property are studied through the combination of quantum mechanics and molecular mechanics methods (QM/MM) coupled with the thermal vibration correlation function method.

Aromaticity is one of the most classical concepts in the field of modern chemistry and has been employed to explain and design substances with special stability. Although the knowledge about Hückel's and Baird's rules has been well established, the understanding of Möbius aromaticity remains extremely limited. In this letter, by employing density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we demonstrated that the four-membered VIB transition metal (TM) carbide clusters possess a highly stable open-shell planar tetrameric structure and exhibit double Möbius aromaticity, which was evidenced by analyzing multiple aromaticity criteria, including the electronic, magnetic, and energetic indicators.
