Downregulation of cardiac inflammation via the CaMKII δ/NF-κB pathway in heart failure by Lonicerae Japonicae Flos and Angelicae Sinensis Radix.

Phytomedicine

December 2024

School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing 100029, China; Chinese Medicine Syndrome and Formula, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing 102488, China. Electronic address:

Background: Inflammation serves an essential function in the occurrence and progression of heart failure (HF), especially in the early stage. Lonicerae japonicae Flos (LJF), Angelicae sinensis Radix (ASR), and their compatibility (LJF+ASR) can inhibit excessive inflammation and have significant cardioprotective effects. However, the primary active ingredients and mechanism of LJF and ASR in anti-inflammatory and anti-HF effect remain to be elucidated.

Electronic address:

With global climate warming and ocean acidification, mineral amendments in coastal areas have emerged as a promising strategy to bolster carbon sinks and alkalinity. However, most research has predominantly focused on carbon dioxide (CO) absorption, with limited exploration of methane (CH) reduction despite its more potent greenhouse effect. To address this gap, our study conducted a microcosm manipulative experiment employing coastal wetlands sediments to elucidate the regulatory effects of various mineral amendments on greenhouse gas emissions (including CO and CH) and seawater alkalinity.

Background: Leopard spots can appear in a variety of diseases; however, they are extremely rare in children with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. This study presents two such rare cases in which leopard spot retinopathy was the initial manifestation of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

Case Presentation: Case 1 involved a 4-year-old boy had previously been diagnosed with left eye uveitis and received systemic steroid therapy at a local hospital, but symptoms persisted.

Mid-infrared spectroscopy is a technology used globally for quantifying the concentration of fat, protein, lactose and other constituents in the milk samples of both individual animals and bulk tank milk. Differences in the milk components and yield of cows are known to exist between morning and evening milk; nonetheless, differences in the spectra originating from the same cow from morning and evening milkings have never been investigated. Data was obtained from 2,602 dairy cows from 7 research farms in Ireland.

Department of Surgery, UD of Medicine of Vall d'Hebron, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Abdominal Wall Surgery Unit, General and Digestive Surgery Department, Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebrón, Barcelona, Spain.

Aim: To discuss extended retrorectal abscess secondary to blunt abdominal trauma as a cause of abdominal wall (AW) infection and impairment.

Methods: According to the CARE checklist, we describe a rare case of blunt abdominal trauma with late diagnosis of jejunal perforation with an abscess that extensively dissected the retromuscular space.

Results: A 65 years-old female patient experienced multiple traumas after a traffic collision.
