Bacteriophage O276 is a laboratory-generated hybrid that carries the immunity region of bacteriophage HK022 and all remaining genes from phage λ. Its construction was instrumental in the discovery of RNA-mediated antitermination, an intriguing alternative to the protein-mediated mechanism of transcription antitermination found in most lambdoid phages.

(2n=2x=14, genome SS) is a wild relative of wheat and a donor of useful traits for wheat improvement. Several whole-genome studies compared genic regions of from the section and wheat and found that is most closely related to the wheat B subgenome but is not its direct progenitor. The results showed that a B subgenome ancestor diverged from more than 4 MYA and either has not yet been discovered, or is extinct.

Polyamine oxidase (PAOs) are enzymes associated with polyamine catabolism and play important roles in growth and development and stress tolerance of plants. In the present study, genome-wide discovery and analysis of the PAO family in sorghum was done utilizing model PAO of Arabidopsis. Six PAO genes were found using publicly available genomic data.

This study aimed to investigate the genetic association between glioblastoma (GBM) and unsupervised deep learning-derived imaging phenotypes (UDIPs). We employed a combination of genome-wide association study (GWAS) data, single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq), and scPagwas (pathway-based polygenic regression framework) methods to explore the genetic links between UDIPs and GBM. Two-sample Mendelian randomization analyses were conducted to identify causal relationships between UDIPs and GBM.

Shallow whole-genome sequencing (sWGS) offers a cost-effective approach to detect copy number alterations (CNAs). However, there remains a gap for a standardized workflow specifically designed for sWGS analysis. To address this need, in this work we present SAMURAI, a bioinformatics pipeline specifically designed for analyzing CNAs from sWGS data in a standardized and reproducible manner.

Article Synopsis
  • The emergence of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology has transformed clinical diagnostics, providing extensive microbiome data for personalized medicine.
  • Despite its potential, microbiome data's complexity and variability pose challenges for traditional statistical and machine learning approaches, including deep learning.
  • The paper presents a novel feature engineering technique that combines two data feature sets, significantly improving the Deep Neural Network's performance in colorectal cancer detection, raising the Area Under the Curve (AUC) from 0.800 to 0.923, thus enhancing microbiome data analysis and disease detection capabilities.
