Two experiments examined how exposure to superhero images influences both prosociality and meaning in life. In Experiment 1 ( = 246) exposed individuals to scenes with superhero images or neutral images. Individuals primed with superhero images reported greater helping intentions relative to the control group, which, in turn, were associated with increased meaning in life (indirect effect only; no direct effect). In Experiment 2 ( = 123), individuals exposed to a superhero poster helped an experimenter in a tedious task more than those exposed to a bicycle poster, though no differences were found for meaning in life. These results suggest that subtle activation of superhero stimuli increases prosocial intentions and behavior.

Background: A 48-year-old patient presented 4 months after insertion of a right sided Haemodialysis with Reliable Outflow (HeRO®, Merit Medical) graft with a discharging abscess at the site of the brachial artery anastomosis. There was localised involvement of the arterial Gore® Acuseal inflow graft that necessitated its removal. The venous outflow component was thought salvageable as infection was well localised to the region of the antecubital fossa.

Pet ownership and therapy dogs as companion animals and emotional support have potential health benefits. We report the experiences at a COVID-19 vaccination center after authorizing children's vaccines. When the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years was authorized for emergency use, we adapted the center's space to receive children, adding cartoon posters and balloons and using children's adhesive bandages, among others.

In this commentary, we develop a conceptual proposal aimed to explain why a discourse of praise and admiration for healthcare professionals´ limitless dedication can trigger a general indifference to the burnout and suffering they experience. Ultimately, this can lead to the justification of the lack of resources dedicated to preventing these problems. We first start by pointing out the stigmatisation of healthcare professionals suffering from burnout and showing their vulnerability, highlighting the complex interactions that occur in the healthcare context and that increase the risk of perpetuating their suffering.

Two experiments observed an effect consistent with a latent-inhibition (LI) effect in humans that (a) did not depend on masking or instruction-generated expectations and (b) suggested that the effect results from a change in processing of the predictive cue. Participants viewed a video of a superhero character flying through three different contexts past a different stimulus in each context. In conditioning, The superhero flew past a target cue that was either Novel (Group No Exposure), had been preexposed in the Same context as where conditioning was occurring (Group Same), or was preexposed in a Different context (Group Different).
