Background/purpose: The competency-based Internal Medicine Milestones (IMM) assesses physician training outcomes through six key competencies. This pilot study introduced IMM concepts through an echocardiography report interpretation course for postgraduate students (PGYs) and residents (Rs). We aimed to help young physicians understand and track competency development as they receive cardiovascular training, with a view to expanding IMM usage for all junior physicians.

Introduction: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the seventh most common type of cancer in the world. Metastases occur in up to 40 % of cases and bones are the second most frequent site. Metastases in extremities are uncommon with very few publications covering distal lower-limb bone metastasis.

Introduction: Patients with obesity seeking bariatric surgery undergo an extensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals' (HCPs) to assess patient compliance among other factors and determine their eligibility for surgery. However, the HCPs' assessments are not devoid of bias that may affect eligibility and preoperative decisions. This study aimed to investigate team members' ability to predict patient outcomes following bariatric surgery.

Since 2015, reductions in maternal mortality have stalled globally. In some parts of the world, severe maternal morbidity and mortality have increased, and most cases are thought to be from preventable causes. This is further exacerbated by significant racial, ethnic, and geographic disparities in maternal health outcomes, particularly among countries with diverse populations.
