AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to assess how factors like sex, age, anesthesia type, complications, pain, and surgery complexity affect the Aldrete-Kroulik Scoring System in patients recovering after surgery.
  • It involved 241 surgical patients and utilized various statistical methods, including correlations and regression analysis, to interpret the data collected.
  • Results indicated significant relationships between Aldrete-Kroulik scores and both pain and surgical complexity, emphasizing the importance of understanding these factors for nurses to ensure safe recovery in patients post-anesthesia.

Article Abstract

Objective: To identify the influence of the variables sex, age, type of anesthesia, occurrence of intraoperative complications, pain and surgical complexity on the Aldrete-Kroulik Scoring System in patients in the immediate postoperative period, in the post-anesthesia care unit.

Method: Non-experimental, longitudinal study, with a quantitative approach, conducted with 241 surgical patients. Descriptive analysis, Student's t-test, Pearson and Spearman Correlation Indexes and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data.

Results: Correlations between the Aldrete-Kroulik Scoring System and pain (r=-0.13; p=0.05) and surgical complexity (r=-0.12; p=0.05) were statistically significant. The type of anesthesia and pain (p<0.01) influenced the decrease of the Aldrete-Kroulik System's scores.

Conclusion: Considering the vulnerability of patients in the immediate postoperative period, it is essential for the nurse to know the factors that can influence the Aldrete-Kroulik Scoring System to provide a safe and optimal post-anesthesia recovery.

Patient discharge from post-anesthetic recovery (PAR) depends, among other factors, on normothermia and the patient's score on the Aldrete-Kroulik index. The objective of this study was to verify the relationship between the Aldrete-Kroulik index and body temperature in patients. This study was performed at the University of São Paulo University Hospital.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the place of stay at postoperative and to verify medical-surgical complications that would justify admission to the intensive care unit, including death.

Methods: Cross-over, prospective, open study that evaluated 120 patients who were submitted to primary bariatric surgery by video laparoscopy from May 2007 to April 2008 in a tertiary hospital. The Aldrete Kroulik index was used for release from the post-anesthesia recovery room and to define where the patient should be routinely referred for postoperative.

Background And Objectives: Several anesthetic techniques have been proposed for different pediatric surgeries to promote postoperative analgesia, among other advantages. This study aimed at evaluating propofol infusion rate and postanesthetic recovery of children submitted to upper abdominal surgeries under epidural anesthesia with 0.2% ropivacaine associated to general anesthesia with propofol or propofol plus sufentanil.

Background And Objectives: To evaluate the effect of a 20- or 60-second instillation period using 0.5% bupivacaine with epinephrine for pain relief after pediatric inguinal herniorrhaphy and hydrocelectomy.

Methods: In a randomized, double-blind study, 103 children (aged 1 to 12 years, American Society of Anesthesiologists [ASA] physical status I or II) were allocated into 4 groups after induction of anesthesia.
