Most of effluents discharged to the environment contain toxic contaminants such as aromatic compounds and heavy metals which are considered hazardous to the nature and living organisms. In this study, resistant to anthracene and lead was isolated from Persian Gulf sediments. Biosurfactant production was demonstrated using three methods, drop collapse, blood agar and oil spreading. Evaluation of optical density by spectrophotometer showed the bacterial growth in presence of 30 mg/l of anthracene and 50 mg/l of lead. Considerable proportion of anthracene (69.95%) was reduced after 120 h and the maximum percentage of lead absorption (82%) was observed after 150 min. The results indicated that the isolated bacterium was capable of removing anthracene and lead.

Actinomycete bacteria derived from marine environments are a good source of natural products with diverse biological activities such as cytotoxicity, antiviral, and antimicrobial actions. This review summarizes 191 angucyclines and angucyclinones derived from marine actinomycetes reported in the literature from 2014 to 2023 and introduced the latest developments in actinomycete-silenced biosynthetic gene cluster activation, including heterologous recombination and in situ activation. The key role of redox post-modifications in the biosynthetic process of atypical angucyclines.

Heparin is widely used to treat thrombosis because it is an effective anticoagulant. However, excessive use of heparin can lead to an increased risk of bleeding, which makes the quantitative detection of heparin very important. An amphiphilic perylene bisimide molecule (denoted PBI-9) was developed, which presented a near-infrared emission peak at 730 nm when it was aggregated.

Objective: To investigate the anti-liver cancer effect of 2-hydroxy-3-methyl anthraquinone (HMA) and the specific mechanism based on nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1)/cellular tumor antigen p53 (p53) pathway.
Methods: Cell counting kit-8 method was used to observe the effect of HMA on the activity of human hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HepG2) cells. At 72 h and 80 μL HMA, the apoptosis rate of HepG2 cells in each group was measured by flow cytometry.

Sorption thermodynamics and kinetics of 100 % artificial keratin fibers with acid dyes have been studied to understand the surface properties, dyeability, and suitability for industrial applications. For a sustainable textile fiber industry, affordable biobased fibers with good dyeability and performance properties are essential for commercial acceptance. Artificial keratin fibers developed from waste feathers have already demonstrated excellent strength and wet stability due to their high degree of disulfide crosslinkages and can be cost-effective as well.

Astrocyte swelling, blood brain barrier (BBB) dissipation and the subsequent brain edema are serious consequences of persistent hyperammonemia in hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in which if inadequately controlled it will lead to brain death. The current study highlights the potential neuroprotective effect of diacerein against thioacetamide (TAA)-induced HE in acute liver failure rat model. HE was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats via I.
