Background: The free vascularized fibula flap presents many advantages such as sufficient length of the bony segment, good vascularization, better quality of the bone, and a long vascular pedicle, but it is also associated with some disadvantages with regard to prosthetic rehabilitation because of its limited height. Improvement in bone height is necessary for ideal dental implant treatment of reconstructed mandibles.
Case Presentation: For two squamous cell carcinoma patients, mandibular bone reconstruction was performed secondarily with the peroneal flap after tumor resection. Since the bone height was insufficient at the time of implant treatment, occlusion reconstruction by dental implant was performed after vertical distraction osteogenesis.
Conclusions: Vertical distraction osteogenesis is a suitable treatment option for alveolar ridge deficiency resulting from fibula transplantation for mandibular reconstruction following tumor surgery.

Severe early-onset scoliosis (EOS) can be addressed by different growth-friendly approaches, although the indications of each technique remain controversial. The aim of this study was to compare, in a large series of patients, the potential and limitations of the different distraction-based surgical techniques to establish the most suitable surgical approach to treat EOS. We conducted a retrospective observational cohort study evaluating 62 EOS cases treated between January 2002 and December 2021 with a traditional growing rod (TGR), a magnetically controlled growing rod (MCGR) and vertical expandable prosthesis titanium ribs (VEPTR) at IRCSS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna, Italy.

Objectives: Grain storage facility entrapments continue to be of concern in the agricultural industry, with nearly 1,500 documented incidents recorded over the last 45 years. Previous research studies have shown that attempting to extricate a full-size pulling test dummy from a grain mass requires a substantial amount of tensile or pull force - e.g.

Introduction And Importance: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis in children severely impacts mouth opening, orofacial growth, airway space, and overall quality of life. While costochondral grafts (CCG) are the gold standard for end-stage TMJ reconstruction in children, their unpredictable growth poses challenges, including potential overgrowth, undergrowth, resorption, and reankylosis. However, recent reports have suggested the feasibility of alloplastic TMJ in pediatric patients.
