We fabricated -type boron (B)-doped silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) with a mean diameter of 3.4 nm by a complex chemical reaction of inexpensive pure Si and pure B powders using a combination of ultra-high-speed mixing and thermal annealing techniques. The hole concentration in the -type SiNPs increased with increasing Si:B blend ratio because of the incorporation of electrically active B atoms into the SiNP core; thus, the conductance of the -type SiNPs was also enhanced by increasing the mobile carrier concentration. Furthermore, we discuss the effect of the Si:B blend ratio on the photovoltaic performances of the heterojunction solar cells consisting of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)/-type SiNPs/-type Si with a micro-pyramidal structure. The photovoltaic parameters decreased with increasing Si:B blend ratio because of the influence of the insufficient collection rate of the separated charge carriers resulting from reduction in the junction region and increase in the carrier recombination. This resulted in the highest power conversion efficiency of 2.57% at a low Si:B blend ratio. These findings are important for designing heterojunction solar cells using -type SiNPs.

Crossbreeding Effect of Chalcogenation and Iodination on Benzene Additives Enables Optimized Morphology and 19.68% Efficiency of Organic Solar Cells.

Volatile solid additives have attracted increasing attention in optimizing the morphology and improving the performance of currently dominated non-fullerene acceptor-based organic solar cells (OSCs). However, the underlying principles governing the rational design of volatile solid additives remain elusive. Herein, a series of efficient volatile solid additives are successfully developed by the crossbreeding effect of chalcogenation and iodination for optimizing the morphology and improving the photovoltaic performances of OSCs.

Background: The modern Iran is a blend of tradition and modernity, but its dominant culture is still traditional and takes pride in female virginity. On the other hand, the influential factors such as modernity, education, social networks, global communication, influence from advanced Western societies, have obviously led to the emergence of a freer sexual attitude associated with less significance of virginity. Since the traditional, cultural and religious significance of virginity among Iranian girls can shape their sexual behaviors, therefore, the aim of the present study is development of strategies to promote healthy sexuality based on Iranian girls perspective about the role of virginity in the construction of their sexuality.

Enhanced proton conductivity of metal organic framework at low humidity by improvement in water retention.

J Colloid Interface Sci

College of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Xi'an Polytechnic University, Xi'an 710048, PR China. Electronic address:

A series of composites have been fabricated by introducing ionic liquid (IL) (ship) into chromium terephthalate MIL-101 (bottle) by ship-in-bottle method (IL@MIL-101s), the resulting IL@MIL-101s are endowed to high water retention, which is essential to proton conducting on multiple energy-involved applications at the low relative humidity (RH). The humidifying IL can lower water loss and increase water uptake, and thus improves water retention properties of the composites aided by the mesoporous MIL-101 at low RH. The hydropenic proton transfer pathways are modeled inside MOF and between IL-MOF, diminishing energy barrier routes for proton hopping, and thus a promotive proton transfer is rendered via Grotthuss mechanism.

The Nature of the Shared Environment.

While a standard part of twin modeling, the magnitude of shared environment (c) is rarely examined by comparing estimates obtained using other methods. To clarify these effects on familial resemblance, we estimated c for 20 diverse phenotypes in: (i) monozygotic and dizygotic twins, (ii) all step-siblings, and (iii) reared together and apart half-siblings, ascertained from the Swedish general population. The mean c estimates (± 95% CIs) differed across methods and were higher from twins (0.

On the evolution of heightened condition dependence of male sexual displays.

J Evol Biol

The maintenance of genetic variation in male sexual display traits in the face of strong directional sexual selection from female preferences is an ongoing evolutionary conundrum. Condition dependence and the genic capture hypothesis are often cited as theoretical resolutions to this problem, yet little is known about the ability of condition dependence itself to evolve. We set out to test how a suite of cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs) used in sexual displays are affected by adult diet and the potential for any condition-dependent response to evolve in a laboratory-adapted population of the Australian fruit fly Drosophila serrata.
