The Fontan operation is a palliative surgical procedure for patients whose hearts cannot support a biventricular circulation. The haemodynamic changes that occur in pregnancy are particularly challenging for Fontan patients and the outcomes are variable. We present a case where fetal outcome was particularly poor despite a lack of high risk features pre-pregnancy.

As the Fontan population grows, understanding successful strategies for ventricular assist device (VAD) support of the failing Fontan circulation is needed. We performed a retrospective analysis of patients with Fontan circulation and systemic VAD support in the Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION) registry. Competing outcomes and Kaplan-Meier estimated survival methods were used.

Purpose: Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum is a multifactorial disease requiring complex surgeries. The treatment route is determined based on the right ventricle (RV) size, tricuspid annulus size and coronary circulation dependency of RV. Since multiple parameters influence the post-operative success, a personalized decision-making based on computed hemodynamics is hypothesized to improve the treatment efficacy.

Introduction: The Fontan circulation palliates single-ventricle congenital heart disease by separating the systemic and pulmonary circulations. An increasing number of women with a Fontan circulation are wishing to become pregnant, however the ability to increase cardiac output during pregnancy is limited in many due to the chronic low output state. We describe pregnancy outcomes in these women at a large tertiary centre, including functional and imaging outcomes.

Background: This study aimed to review our institutional experience with the Fontan operation, the adverse severe events we encountered during mid-term follow-up, and the associated risk factors.
Methods: In the study, the medical records of 40 patients (22 males, 18 females) who underwent Fontan operation between August 1993 and August 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were followed up for at least six months.
