Rusfertide, a peptide hepcidin mimetic, has shown efficacy in polycythemia vera. This trial investigated the multiple-dose pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety of once-weekly rusfertide 60 mg for 5 weeks in healthy subjects. Subjects were randomized to subcutaneous injection in the abdomen, upper arm, or thigh.

Background: In X-ray computed tomography (CT), metal-induced beam hardening artifacts arise from the complex interactions between polychromatic X-ray beams and metallic objects, leading to degraded image quality and impeding accurate diagnosis. A previously proposed metal-induced beam hardening correction (MBHC) method provides a theoretical framework for addressing nonlinear artifacts through mathematical analysis, with its effectiveness demonstrated by numerical simulations and phantom experiments. However, in practical applications, this method relies on precise segmentation of highly attenuating materials and parameter estimations, which limit its ability to fully correct artifacts caused by the intricate interactions between metals and other dense materials, such as bone or teeth.

Relugolix is an oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor antagonist that suppresses sex steroid hormones and is approved as monotherapy for prostate cancer and as a fixed-dose combination with estradiol/norethindrone for the treatment of endometriosis and uterine fibroids. The aim of this postmarketing study was to determine the pharmacokinetics and quantify the amount of relugolix excreted into breast milk of healthy lactating women. Following a single, oral dose of 40 mg relugolix, breast milk was sampled over 120 h.

Microfluidic technology, which involves the manipulation of fluids in microchannels, faces challenges in channel design and performance optimization due to its complex, multi-parameter nature. Traditional design and optimization approaches usually rely on time-consuming numerical simulations, or on trial-and-error methods, which entail high costs associated with experimental evaluations. Additionally, commonly used optimization methods require many numerical simulations, and to avoid excessive computation time, they approximate simulation results with faster surrogate models.

Ligand-shell engineering of ultrasmall metal clusters is a burgeoning research field aiming to develop cluster-specific properties. However, predicting these properties prior to synthesis is challenging due to their high sensitivity to geometric and/or electronic variations in ultrasmall metal cores, hindering further exploration. In this study, we present a theory-directed ligand-shell design and significant red-shift in absorption of a prolate-shaped [Au(diphosphine)Cl] cluster by synthesizing and characterizing enantiopure octagold clusters bearing chiral BINAP-type ligands [BINAP = 2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-binaphthyl].
