Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital developed an innovative framework that fully integrates 17 family and youth leaders into its accreditation preparation process to drive its quality and safety improvements. The hospital established a formalized committee, the Family Leader Accreditation Group (FLAG), where staff and family leaders (FLs), partnered equally to meet, update and share quality and safety initiatives as part of the accreditation preparedness process. The Quality, Safety and Performance (QSP) team was driven to partner more deeply with clients and families to advance quality and safety.

This exploratory qualitative study examines the challenges faced by manual wheelchair (MWC) users and their clinicians, with a focus on mobility difficulties in both outdoor and indoor environments, as well as training priorities. The study involved semi-structured interviews with 18 clinicians and 25 MWC users from various rehabilitation centres. The interviews, lasting between 30 and 60 minutes, explored specific aspects of MWC use, including mobility challenges, training needs, and psychological factors.

Purpose Of Review: The rhomboid intercostal and subserratus plane (RISS) block is an effective, safer alternative for managing postoperative acute pain following abdominal surgeries. The RISS block offers several advantages over traditional approaches, including reduced incidence of puncture-related complications, lower rates of systemic opioid consumption, and more consistent analgesic coverage of lower thoracic dermatomes.
Recent Findings: Despite a favorable safety profile, the RISS block carries potential risks, such as pneumothorax and local anesthetic systemic toxicity, particularly when long-acting anesthetics such as bupivacaine or ropivacaine are used.

DNA-decorated hapten (DDH)-based immunoassays have emerged, demonstrating supreme advantages in sensing applications because of their excellent sensitivity, specificity, and reliability. DDH combines both a recognition element (hapten) and a signal transduction element (DNA portion) with its highly programmable DNA structure enabling the trigger of signal transduction following a recognition event, thereby introducing a novel signal transduction mechanism to immunoassays. In this review, we provide a critical overview of recent research in the DDH-based immunoassays, which are designed to detect specific small molecules and antibodies.
