In this study, imidazolium brushes tethered by ⁻NH₂-containing ligands were grafted onto the surface of a 2D material, MXene, using precipitation polymerization followed by quaternization. Functionalized MXene was embedded into chitosan matrix to prepare a hybrid alkaline anion exchange membrane. Due to high interfacial compatibility, functionalized MXene was homogeneously dispersed in chitosan matrix, generating continuous ion conduction channels and then greatly enhancing OH conduction property (up to 172%). The ability and mechanism of OH conduction in the membrane were elaborated based on systematic tests. The mechanical-thermal stability and swelling resistance of the membrane were evidently augmented. Therefore, it is a promising anion exchange membrane for alkaline fuel cell application.

Biological structures exhibit autonomous and intelligent behaviors, such as movement, perception, and responses to environmental changes, through dynamic interactions with their surroundings. Inspired by natural organisms, future soft robots are also advancing toward autonomy, sustainability, and interactivity. This review summarizes the latest achievements in untethered soft robots based on 1D and 2D nanomaterials.

Due to their conductive properties and optoelectronic tunability, MXenes have revolutionized the area of electrocatalysis and active materials in supercapacitors. In comparison, there are only a few reports on MXenes as thermal catalysts for general organic reactions. Herein, the unprecedented catalytic activity of TiC MXene for the hydroamination of alkynes is reported, overcoming the limitations of poor activity, lack of selectivity, and stability, which are generally encountered in the solid catalysts known so far.

Improving the sensitivity of biosensor has always the major challenge to measure lower detection concentration of biological samples. In this paper, a novel optical fiber surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor based on TiC MXene/GNRs synergistically highly enhanced sensitivity was proposed. The TiC MXene and GNRs were coated on the optical fiber sensing probe by the electrostatic layer-by-layer (ELBL) assembly method.

Recent advances in interfacial solar steam generation have made direct solar desalination a promising approach for providing cost-effective and environmentally friendly clean water solutions. However, developing highly effective, salt-resistant solar absorbers for long-term desalination at high efficiencies and evaporation rates remains a significant challenge. We present a Janus hydrogel-based absorber featuring a surface modified with thermo-responsive hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and a hydrogel matrix containing photothermal conversion units, MXene, specifically designed for long-term seawater desalination.

First-principles calculations, particularly density functional theory (DFT) combined with D3 dispersion correction (DFT+D3), have proven to be valuable tools in simulating the adsorption of lead ions on TiCO surfaces. However, conventional theoretical models assume electrically neutral systems under vacuum conditions, neglecting the solvent environment and electrode potential's crucial effects. This study employed an implicit solvent model, treating the solvent as a continuous and homogeneous medium to capture the influence of different solvents by varying their dielectric constants.
