Cordierite is an alumina-magnesia-silica compound widely used as a thermal shock resistant material due to its high thermal shock resistance, low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), low dielectric constant, and good electrical insulation. However, its narrow sintering temperature range and low mechanical strength hinder its application in ceramic heaters. Although mullite shows excellent thermal and chemical stability, heat resistance, and mechanical strength, it has the disadvantages of high sintering temperatures (1600-1700 °C) and poor thermal shock resistance. In this study, a composite phase was prepared by mixing cordierite and mullite to expand the narrow sintering temperature range of cordierite and adjust its CTE to be similar to that of Si. Furthermore, Y₂O₃ was added to reduce the sintering temperature and to increase the mechanical strength. Therefore, the composite showed the highest density of 2.5 g/cm³ at 1380 °C when the ratio of mullite to cordierite was 20 wt%. When 11 wt% Y₂O₃ was added to this composition, the highest density was 2.8 g/cm³ for a sintering temperature of 1320 °C, and the mechanical strength was relatively good as 180 MPa of 3-points bending strength was comparatively good. The CTE was 2.6×10.K, which was similar to that of Si.

The manufacturing of thin films through selective laser sintering of micro/nanoparticles is an emerging technology that has been developing rapidly over the last two decades owing to its digitization, efficiency, and good adaptability to various materials. However, high-quality laser sintering of different materials remains a challenge: ceramic particles are difficult to be sintered due to low absorbance; metallic particles are prone to oxidation; semiconductor particles are difficult to process for performance enhancement due to high stress. In this work, a new approach is proposed that employs an additional Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) sacrificial layer to assist laser sintering of different functional materials, which detaches after sintering without contaminating the target material.

Supported noble metal catalysts have a high catalytic activity and selectivity. However, fast surface reconstruction and sintering of noble metal particles during a high-temperature reaction process pose a major challenge to the stability of the catalysts. In this study, sinter-resistant supported noble metal catalysts were prepared by constructing an oxide nanotrap.

In this study, cordierite-based ceramics (2MgO·2AlO·5SiO) were synthesized using high-purity MgO, AlO, and SiO as starting materials. The influence of the MgO/AlO ratio on various properties, including the thermal behavior, pyrometric cone refractory behavior, phase formation, physical properties, and microstructure of the synthesized ceramics, was systematically analyzed. Increasing the MgO/AlO ratio progressively weakened the cordierite network, leading to lower temperatures for liquid formation and melting.

In this work, the rare earth element Ce was incorporated into the A-site of SrBaNbO ferroelectric ceramics, which was prepared using the conventional solid state reaction method and sintered under different procedures. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to assess the impact of Ce doping and varying sintering procedures on both the relaxor characteristics and electrical properties of the ceramics. When sintered at 1300 °C for 4 h, the grains exhibited an isometric shape.

Electron-trapping materials have attracted a lot of attention in the field of optical data storage. However, the lack of suitable trap levels has hindered its development and application in the field of optical data storage. Herein, LuAlO:Ce fluorescent ceramics were developed as the optical storage medium, and high-temperature vacuum sintering induced the formation of deep traps (1.
