Angiogenesis has a great impact on human health, owing to its participation in development, wound healing and the pathogenesis of several diseases. It has been reported that let-7a is a tumour suppressor, but whether it plays a role in angiogenesis is unclear. Here we showed that let-7a, a microRNA conserved in vertebrates, regulated angiogenesis by concomitantly down-regulating TGFBR3. Overexpression of let-7a or knockdown of TGFBR3 in cell culture inhibited the tube formation and reduced migration rate. Moreover, xenograft experiments showed that overexpression of let-7a or knockdown of TGFBR3 had smaller tumour size. Downstream genes, such as VEGFC and MMP9, were also down-regulated in let-7a overexpression or TGFBR3 knockdown groups. Therefore, our results revealed a novel mechanism that let-7a regulate angiogenesis through post-transcriptional regulation of TGFBR3.

Objective: To explore the mechanism by which diazepam alleviates lipopolysaccharide (LPS) -induced pyroptosis and inflammation to delay the progression of pulmonary fibrosis.
Methods: MRC-5 cells challenged with LPS were treated with diazepam and transfected with a let-7a-5p mimic alone or co-transfected with pc-DNA-MYD88. The changes in cellular expressions of inflammatory factors were analyzed with ELISA, and the expressions of fibrosis- and pyroptosis-related proteins were detected using Western blotting.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play an important role in the progression of atherosclerosis (AS). This study aimed to explore the exact role and mechanism of circ_0002984 in oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-mediated human vascular smooth muscle cells (HVSMCs). The model of smooth muscle cell phenotype switching was constructed by treating HVSMCs with ox-LDL.

Introduction: Preterm delivery (PTD) is the leading cause of death in children under 5 years of age. Cervical shortening detected by ultrasound can be used to predict PTD, but prediction is not perfect, and complementary diagnostic markers are needed. Recently, specific plasma microribonucleic acid (miRNAs) detected in early second trimester were shown to be associated with spontaneous PTD in high-risk women with a singleton pregnancy.

Objective: Sympathetic hyperinnervation following myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the primary causes of ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) after MI. Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a key molecule that induces sympathetic nerve remodeling. Previous studies have confirmed that microRNA (miR)-let-7a interacts with NGF.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Treatment approaches that differ between estrogen-positive (ER+) and triple-negative BC cells (TNBCs) and may subsequently affect cancer biomarkers, such as H19 and telomerase, are an emanating delight in BC research. For instance, all-trans-Retinoic acid (ATRA) could represent a potent regulator of these oncogenes, regulating microRNAs, mostly let-7a microRNA (miR-let-7a), which targets the glycolysis pathway, mainly pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) and lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) enzymes.
