T cells play a key role in adaptive immune responses, and shifts among T cell classes occur in normal pregnancy. There is evidence for the role of T17 cells and dysregulation of the T17/T cell balance in morbidities and autoimmune diseases during pregnancy. Because T17 responses may play a role in depression and anxiety outside of pregnancy, we hypothesize that T17 responses and the balance of T17/T activity may also contribute to the development of depression and anxiety during pregnancy. To explore this hypothesis, this review has three main aims: 1) to evaluate systematically the role of T17 cells and cytokines during pregnancy; 2) to compare changes in the ratio of T17/T cells during pregnancy morbidities with the changes that occur in depression and anxiety outside of pregnancy; and 3) to provide a basis for further research on T17 cells in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, with an eye toward the development of novel therapeutics. We also review the limited literature concerning perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and hypothesize about the potential role of T17 cells in these illnesses. Understanding the pathophysiology of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders will aid development of novel therapeutics that address immunological mechanisms, in addition to the serotonin system, which are targetable molecules in treating depression and anxiety during pregnancy.

The relationship between sleep problems during pregnancy and postpartum depressive symptoms as well as neonatal condition at delivery have not been well described. Background: Perinatal and childhood periods are sensitive windows of development wherein adversity exposure can result in disadvantageous outcomes. Data-driven dimensional approaches that appreciate the co-occurrence of adversities allow for extending beyond specificity (individual adversities) and cumulative risk (non-specific summation of adversities) approaches to understand how the type and timing of adversities affect outcomes.
Objective: With evolving recommendations on what should be important in adversity research, we sought to establish a data-driven framework that accounts for both type and timing of adversity by (1) replicating dimensions of childhood adversities, (2) determining whether perinatal adversities form unique dimensions and (3) identifying whether adversities during the perinatal and childhood periods overlap or remain distinct.

Background: Whilst it is inconvenient and time-intensive, predominantly (PP) and exclusively pumping (EP) mothers rely on breast expression to provide milk for their infants and to ensure continued milk supply, yet these populations are poorly understood.
Methods: We assessed and characterised Western Australian PP mothers ( = 93) regarding 24 h milk production (MP) and infant milk intake and demographics, perinatal complications and breastfeeding difficulties, the frequencies of which were compared with published general population frequencies. Pumping efficacy and milk flow parameters during a pumping session in PP mothers ( = 32) were compared with those that pump occasionally (reference group, = 60).

The development of antivirals for respiratory viruses has advanced markedly in response to the growing threat of pathogens such as Influenzavirus (IAV), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and SARS-CoV-2. This article reviews the advances and challenges in this field, highlighting therapeutic strategies that target critical stages of the viral replication cycle, including inhibitors of viral entry, replication, and assembly. In addition, innovative approaches such as inhibiting host cellular proteins to reduce viral resistance and repurposing existing drugs are explored, using advanced bioinformatics tools that optimize the identification of antiviral candidates.

Background: Congenital mesoblastic nephroma represents 3-10% of all pediatric renal tumors.
