A total of 133 clinical isolates were collected in the National China Hospital Invasive Fungal Surveillance Net (CHIF-NET) program in 2009 to 2016. Accurate identification was performed by sequencing of the intergenic spacer 1 (IGS1) region. Among these isolates, (108 isolates [81.2%]) was the leading species, followed by (7 isolates [5.3%]), (5 isolates [3.8%]), (5 isolates [3.8%]), (3 isolates [2.3%]), and 1 isolate (0.7%) each of , , , , and Both the Vitek mass spectrometry (MS) (bioMérieux, Marcy l'Etoile, France) and Bruker Biotyper MS (Bruker Daltonics GmbH, Germany) platforms gave high levels (>97.5%) of correct identification when the species were present in the database. The geometric mean (GM) of amphotericin B MICs for was 2-fold higher than that for non- High fluconazole MICs (≥8 μg/ml) were observed for 25% of isolates (27/108 isolates) and 16% of non- (4/25 isolates) isolates. Itraconazole MICs were ≤0.5 μg/ml for 89.5% of the isolates. Voriconazole was the most potent antifungal agent , with a GM of 0.09 μg/ml. Genotyping of the isolates using IGS1 sequence alignment revealed that genotype 1 was most common (41.7%), followed by genotype 4 (31.5%), genotype 3 (23.1%), genotype 5 (0.9%), genotype 6 (0.9%), and genotype 7 (1.8%). Our data on species distribution, genotypes, and antifungal susceptibilities may contribute to a better understanding of the epidemiology of invasive infections throughout China.

Background: This study aimed to examine how physician performance metrics are affected by the speed of other attendings (co-attendings) concurrently staffing the ED.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using patient data from two EDs between January-2018 and February-2020. Machine learning was used to predict patient length of stay (LOS) conditional on being assigned a physician of average speed, using patient- and departmental-level variables.

Identifying why complex tissue regeneration is present or absent in specific vertebrate lineages has remained elusive. One also wonders whether the isolated examples where regeneration is observed represent cases of convergent evolution or are instead the product of phylogenetic inertia from a common ancestral program. Testing alternative hypotheses to identify genetic regulation, cell states, and tissue physiology that explain how regenerative healing emerges in some species requires sampling multiple species among which there is variation in regenerative ability across a phylogenetic framework.

Preeclampsia is characterized by insufficient invasion of extravillous trophoblasts and is a consequence of failed adaption of extravillous trophoblasts to changes in the intrauterine environment developing embryo. Specific miRNAs are implicated in the development of preeclampsia (PE). miR-455-5p is present at low levels in PE but its role is not known.

Monoanionic, bidentate-auxiliary-directed, cobalt-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization has become a very useful tool in organic synthesis. A comprehensive investigation into isolated organometallic intermediates and their reactivity within the catalytic cycle is lacking. We report here mechanistic studies of cobalt-catalyzed, aminoquinoline-directed C(sp)-H bond functionalization.

Study Question: Does a human fallopian tube (HFT) organoid model offer a favourable apical environment for human sperm survival and motility?
Summary Answer: After differentiation, the apical compartment of a new HFT organoid model provides a favourable environment for sperm motility, which is better than commercial media.
What Is Known Already: HFTs are the site of major events that are crucial for achieving an ongoing pregnancy, such as gamete survival and competence, fertilization steps, and preimplantation embryo development. In order to better understand the tubal physiology and tubal factors involved in these reproductive functions, and to improve still suboptimal in vitro conditions for gamete preparation and embryo culture during IVF, we sought to develop an HFT organoid model from isolated adult stem cells to allow spermatozoa co-culture in the apical compartment.
