A dual Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) based on polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) is described for simultaneous measurement of displacement and temperature. Two orthogonal polarization components of a beam are simultaneously transmitted in the interferometer. The sensing configuration contains a short PMF section, a lens, and a mirror. The lens can transmit the slow polarization component and reflect the fast polarization component. Each polarization component exhibits a unique phase shift in response to changes in displacement and temperature, forming a dual MZI. Experimental results show that the resolutions of displacement and temperature are 60 pm and 2×10°C, respectively, and measurement ranges of displacement and temperature can reach 20 cm and 70°C. The experimental result demonstrates that there is no crosstalk between displacement and temperature, and high repeatability is demonstrated experimentally. This sensor allows multiparameter measurement, high resolution, wide measurement range, and good repeatability, conferring good application potential.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the large deflection problem of bimodular functionally graded truncated thin conical shells under the transverse mechanical load and non-uniform thermal load, in which two different boundary constraints of the truncated shell with two ends simply supported and fully fixed are considered. It is assumed that the temperature distribution along the thickness direction satisfies the Fourier law of heat transfer, and the material properties change exponentially along the thickness direction while different properties in tension and compression are considered. The geometric equation of the conical shell is established based on the equivalent method of curvature correction of von-Kármán deformation theory, and the analytical solution of the problem is obtained by Ritz method.

The shift fork shaft is a key component in transmissions, connecting the shift fork in order to adjust the gear engagement. This study investigates the effects of different welding sequences on deformation and residual stress during plasma welding of the shift fork shaft. A temperature-displacement coupled finite element method, using ABAQUS simulation software and a double ellipsoid heat source model, was employed for the numerical analysis.

has long been recognized as an important spider mite pest of rubber trees. Recently, increasing damage from has elevated its importance as a key spider mite pest. These two species share highly overlapping ecological niches, with outbreaks strongly associated with high temperatures and drought stresses.

In recent years, the bacteriophage Φ29 (Phi29) DNA polymerase has garnered increasing attention due to its high-fidelity amplification capacity at constant temperatures. To advance the industrial application of this type of isothermal polymerases, this study mined and characterized new enzymes from the microbial metagenome based on the known Phi29 DNA polymerase sequence. The results revealed that a new enzyme, Php29 DNA polymerase, was identified in the microbial metagenome with plants as the hosts.

Bulk n-type SrTiO (STO) has long been known to possess a superconducting ground state at an exceptionally dilute carrier density. This has raised questions about the applicability of the BCS-Eliashberg paradigm with its underlying adiabatic assumption. However, recent experimental reports have set the pairing gap to the critical temperature (Tc) ratio at the BCS value for superconductivity in Nb-doped STO, even though the adiabaticity condition the BCS pairing requires is satisfied over the entire superconducting dome only by the lowest branch of optical phonons.
