Evolution: Directives from Sea Anemone Hox Genes.

A new study in a sea anemone shows that, as in bilaterian animals, an axis-patterning Hox code exists in cnidarians. Surprisingly, it acts along the directive axis, orthogonal to the oral-aboral axis.
