Affected by weakening effect of water in the goaf, the bearing capacity of coal pillar reduced, and coal pillar rock burst is prone to occur, which is a serious threat to mine safety in production. In order to study the equivalent width and stability of coal pillar in water-rich coal seam, taking the section coal pillar of a working face as the research object, combined with laboratory test, theoretical analysis, simulation and engineering practice, the stress, elastic core area width, damage degree and energy accumulation of 36 m water-immersed coal pillar and 26 m, 28 m, 30 m, 32 m, 36 m unimmersed coal pillars are analyzed. The research results show that: (1) The reasonable width of coal pillar under flooded and unflooded conditions is 36.

Underground coal excavation has caused a series of geological disasters and environmental problems, especially coal mining subsidence. Backfill-strip mining, which combines the advantages of strip mining and backfill mining, can reduce subsidence and improve the recovery rate of coal. Therefore, predicting the impact of backfill-strip mining on the surface environment and strata structure is essential for the better development of backfill-strip mining technology.

Effect of Photolithographic Biomimetic Surface Microstructure on Wettability and Droplet Evaporation Process.

Biomimetics (Basel)

November 2024

Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, University Park, Nottingham NG7 2RD, UK.

In nature, engineering technology and daily life, wetting phenomena are widespread and have essential roles and significance. Bionics is becoming increasingly important nowadays and exploring the mechanism that influences biomimetic surface microstructure on droplet wetting process and heat and mass transfer characteristics is becoming more meaningful. In this paper, based on photolithography technology, SU-8 photoresist was used as raw material to prepare biomimetic surfaces with microstructures in various arrangements.

Although the Doppler velocity log is widely applied to measure underwater fluid flow, it requires high power and is inappropriate for measuring low flow velocity. This study proposes a fluid flow sensor that utilizes optical flow sensing. The proposed sensor mimics the neuromast of a fish by attaching a phosphor to two pillar structures (A and B) produced using ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber.

Liver tissues, composed of hepatocytes, cholangiocytes, stellate cells, Kupffer cells, and sinusoidal endothelial cells, are differentiated from endodermal and mesodermal germ layers. By mimicking the developmental process of the liver, various differentiation protocols have been published to generate human liver organoids (HLOs) in vitro using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). However, HLOs derived solely from the endodermal germ layer often encounter technical hurdles such as insufficient maturity and functionality, limiting their utility for disease modeling and hepatotoxicity assays.
