Neuron-derived neurotrophic factor (NDNF) was discovered as a target antigen in membranous nephropathy (MN) caused by syphilis. However, there have been few reports of NDNF-positive MN in Japan. A 19-year-old female patient was admitted to our hospital with nephrotic syndrome and acute kidney injury.

Blood storage lesion induces cytosolic and membrane changes driven in part by hemoglobin (Hb) oxidation reactions within red blood cells (RBCs). A novel gel formulation containing the antioxidant curcuminoids in a biocompatible solvent system was used to deliver curcumin into RBCs. Incubation of peroxide treated RBCs stored in PBS with curcumin gel led to a reduction in prooxidant ferrylHb and recovery in ATP.

This study aimed to identify imaging risk factors for spinal cord injury without radiologic abnormalities (SCIWORA) in children. We retrospectively analyzed the medical records and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of children with SCIWORA admitted to our hospital between January 1, 2012, and September 30, 2022. Univariate and binary logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the prognostic impact of various factors including MRI type, maximum cross-sectional area of spinal cord injury, injury length, injury signal intensity ratio.

The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) of vancomycin change during HD, increasing the risk of subtherapeutic concentrations. The aim of this study was to evaluate during and after the conventional and prolonged hemodialysis sessions to identify the possible risk of the patient remaining without adequate antimicrobial coverage during therapy. Randomized, non-blind clinical trial, including critically ill adults with septic AKI on conventional (4 h) and prolonged HD (6 and 10 h) and using vancomycin for at least 72 h.
