Background: X-ray, computed tomography (CT), and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) techniques are indispensable in managing critically ill neurosurgical patients. However, repeated diagnostic imaging leads to cumulative radiation exposure, raising concerns about long-term risks such as malignancies. This study evaluates the frequency, dosage, and implications of radiation exposure in a neurosurgical intensive care unit (NICU) patient cohort.

Background: Activities in daily living (ADLs) disability triggered by aging population and chronic diseases in the middle-aged and older adults has become a major public health challenge. Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome, as a combination of several chronic conditions, has not yet been studied to explore its association with ADLs disability. Background: The current NCCN guidelines advocate for the use of adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) or chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in pT3N0 oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OCSCC). Here, we sought to evaluate whether postoperative RT/CRT may confer a survival advantage in pT3N0 patients who lack adverse pathological features.
Methods: A dataset of 852 pT3N0 OCSCC patients treated between 2018 and 2021 was analyzed.

Introduction: Thoracic surgery patients are among the least likely to be on opioids before surgery but have the highest rate of new persistent opioid use after surgery compared to other surgical cohorts. Nearly 27% of opioid-naïve lung cancer resection patients become new persistent opioid users. We aimed to identify risk factors for postdischarge opioid prescription refill within 90 ds of surgery for lung cancer resection patients.

Background: The goal of this study was to investigate the association between ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) use and inpatient hospitalization cost for lung transplantation in a nationwide sample.
Methods: Lung transplantation patients in 2018-2020 Nationwide Readmissions Database (NRD) were grouped based on use of EVLP. The primary outcome was total inpatient hospitalization cost.
